Is it possible that John Conyers, coming from one of the most
oppressed segments of our society, may wind up as the savior of our Constitutional form of government? His doggedness and determination in the face of overwhelming odds appears to be gathering support, not the least because he is a calm voice simply bent on presenting evidence of malfeasance by the powerful in the 2004 elections and their rush to war by cooking up evidence to support decisions already made.

If indeed this comes to pass as I think it will this nation owe a great deal to this remarkable man. A Profile in Courage indeed.Along with Senator Byrd, John Conyers should be declared a national treasure.

1. It's very possible that those like Conyers who save the Constitution will
be a member of society that was oppressed or discriminated against...History has always shown that it is those people, women, minorities etc. that eventually are the ones that lead the way.

I've believed all along that any "revolution" in this country, even a "peaceful" one of the people in this country saying that they have had enough, will be led by women and other minorities and oppressed and discriminated against.

It's also one of the reasons throughout human history that women & minorities continue to be oppressed. It's not coincidence that the Nazis or the Taliban oppressed the people that they chose to oppress. They have to silence those that are the biggest threat to them in their power.

I love John Conyers.......now there's a REAL American! :patriot:

3. You're right. He is my hope for the future. An honest, smart man!
Women too, e.g., Tubbs, but I've followed Conyers for years. A class act, a man of courage and integrity.

4. Reminds me of Barbara Jordan, another
freedom fighter from the watergate days. She was awesome.
