Word Portrait of a Wingnut Soldier in Iraq.
He comes from our plant in ____ ______ Michigan.

He was a marine, but when he got out he went National Guard locally so he could still play soldier.

When the war started, he didn't even wait for Bush to claim "Regime Change" as moral, correct and proper: after all, didn't Saddam drop the towers? Right.

When his unit was dropped from fixing obsolete self propelled artillery to grunt status, he put in for MP. Before he mobilized, he strutted around the plant wearing his Desert Cammi's and boots.

Now he's in Iraq. He's having the time of his life. He's an MP, riding a VERY heavily armed and amoured HUMVEE, and he sends pictures back regularly, him holding his M-16 at Port Arms, MP gorget on his shoulder, smiling his wingnut ass off with email text about how wonderful it is we're helping the Iraqis to Freedom while he guards prisoners at one of the MANY camps.

His proudest photo is one taken with Toby Keith dressed in Desert High Fashion, both of them with an arm around the other, the free arms shooting a double "Thumbs Up."

He's "...So happy to be working for liberty and freedom..."

You can't make this shit up.

1. and when he gets his legs blown off
he'll still say it was for the good of the country and democracy for Iraqi's.........until he finds out how hard it is to find a good job, and he's up to his ears in medical and therapy bills, and how difficult it is to get around. All because his government is willing to trade his life for oil and then discard him after all is said and done.

2. On the other hand
He's not an armchair warrior. I may not agree with him, but at least he's putting his own ass on the line for his beliefs. He sounds like a lot pre-conversion anti-war vets from Vietnam that I've met. They tend to talk about how gung ho they were before they got disillusioned. Idealists are cloying sometimes. but it's the cynical bastards I can't take.

4. Good point - not a chickenhawk at least
Unlike the millions of wingnuts supporting the military with those yellow ribbon magnets on their SUVs...

5. He's a FASCIST of the First Rank.
This is a guy that told me (in 2000) that he'd seen my "Gore" bumper sticker, and that the "Real Americans" like him ought to insist that Commies like me should have "LIBBIE" tattoo'd on our foreheads and wear a shirt with a target over the heart to save "Real Americans" like him time when it counts.
