25. Multiple, simultaneous bombings is a really bad tactic...
and probably used more to frame Al Qaeda than anything else. The chances of getting caught multiply greatly when you have to manage several attack sites at once...even more so when you are most likely under surveillance as a muslim fundamentalist.

This stinks.

30. what do you mean by "frame"?
I was just curious, do other terrorist groups go around copying Al-qaeda in an effort to frame them? I'm not being sarcastic, I've just never known that to be a prevalent thing.

8. London Official On BBC - 6 Explosions
This on BBC America. My webserver in London went down...and so did several I tried to connect to in other parts of the U.K.

An official (why am I thinking this guy looks like a bad Graham Chapman) intimates the entire city is in shutdown.

"The city is slowly starting to come under control". Very measured words.

Be safe, Brian!

14. BBC news on tv in US--six explosions reported
No estimate of casualties, they are asking the media not to speculate on who is responsible for these actions so as not to create hysteria.

This is so f*cked up.

...over people getting blown up. We should be CALM about this?? What is worse, what deserves more hysteria?? They asking the media to not speculate?? Good christ on a stick, so we shouldn't be thinking about it too much? MONSTERS!!

And really, won't people be coming up with the "terrorist" idea even if the media don't?

and I think I get where you're coming from.

There is no good answer, so everyone SHUT UP about this? Certainly. And we're all here because we don't care so much. Right.

Sound of Silence.

27. Hysteria is never a good idea
Not many situations are improved by panicking. We can get angry when all the facts are in: at the moment the situation is still too confused to draw firm conclusions. While I was typing that, a truck full of soldiers drove past the office, but the sky hasn't fallen yet.

33. The point is
these actions, being widespead and very violent, are MEANINGFUL.

It would cheapen the situation of the people involved to continue with the posts of sympathy and worry; I can't possibly grasp what they're going through. It's not what I'd wish on anybody, it's what we all want protection from, random and violent loss of life.

But to downplay the political significance, here, on DU? I see no reason for that. Makes us sound like hysterical sillies, while in realty, many of us have been VERY worried about acts like this all along. We have been worried our government might be complicit in some act to cause fear and distraction. Many of us suspect them of having done it before. We are very worried this could have been done by them.

To say we're unconcerned about the victims, because we're discussing who might have done it and why? It feels all very much like being told to shut up. I am very tired of that, it hasn't helped anyone very much.

Do I feel for those people hurt? Every bit as much as I feel for the many thousands of civilians hurt, maimed, raped and killed in Iraq. Every day. As many as lost today. Every day.

I'm here because I care. Don't cut down the likes of me for not waxing all tears over what happened. Some of us are past crying. Past shock.

And the horrors and pain we see now are nothing compared to what we suspect is coming. Quite honestly, in terms of months instead of decades, our lives could change radically, and many experts predict this as inevitable.

In terms of this, it's not a numbness towards what has happened, but a dogged persistance to carry on. Without emotional showboating.
