Ugh just got this email :since "everybody knows there was no connection"..
http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/005/804yqqnr.asp
The article is entitled "The Mother of All Connnections." It's 15 pages long -- and a somewhat complicated read. Here are just a few gems from the article:

Saddam agreed in the mid 1990's to a request from Al Qaeda to broadcast anti-Saudi messages on Iraq radio.
In 1998 there were a series of payments from Saddam Hussein to Osama bin Laden's No. 2 goon, Ayman al Zawahri in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. This was happening at the same time the U.S. was putting increased pressures on Saddam for more inspections, and at the same time Bill Clinton was actually making speeches at the Pentagon that some viewed as preparing the nation for war against Iraq.
Other documents recovered from Iraqi intelligence show that there were meetings between a high-level Al Qaeda operative and Iraqi intelligence officials in Baghdad. It was also at this very time that Osama bin Laden issued a Fatwa for the "killing of Americans wherever you find them." Not only were these meetings referenced in the documents recovered from the bombed-out Iraqi intelligence headquarters, these meetings were also detailed in the 9/11 Commission Report ... a section of the report never, or so it would seem, released to the Democrats.
You want more? How about evidence that a former Iraqi soldier who was recruited by the Taliban to fight in Afghanistan was found to have participated with Iraqi intelligence in a plot to blow up an American embassy in Pakistan .. with a chemical bomb. Chemical Bomb? That would be a WMD, in case you didn't know.

1. This comes from people who traffic in false documents.
Anybody remember the purchase of yellowcake uranium? Anyone remember the incontrovertible evidence of weapons of mass destruction?

Yawn.

1. Detainee drinks water
2. Al Queda members are known to drink water.
3. The Detainee must be Al Queda!!!

6. Didnt the 9/11 Commission announce no connection?
Didn't Bush himself admit there was no connection. Are they calling George a LIAR?

7. My litmus test ..."Bill Clinton" instead of "President Clinton"
If they can't give our last ELECTED President his proper title, then they're not worth listening to, period.

Ask a wingnut sometime to say P-R-E-S-I-D-E-N-T Clinton just once. Tell them to try it on for size. Watch them squirm and cry. Few can do it without projectile vomiting. Serious mental explosions go off in their heads. It's fun to watch!:P

8. So what they are saying here it would seem is
that if the United States had taken care of Al-Queda in Afghanistan after 9/11, rather then letting their leaders slip away, and had maintained that pressure on them until they were all captured, then an isolated and impotent Saddam Hussein would have one less diversion for the hell he'd made his country and one less effective reign on his country's people.

Additionally, all that al-queda documentation could have provided lots of more effective evidence of Saddam's role as a state sponsor of terrorism, creating greater world pressure for him to step down and possibly providing a smoother transfer of Iraq to a democratic state then the current situation has afforded, with correspondingly a lot less loss of life.

Thank you Weekly Standard for again pointing out, if what you are saying is true, the utter incompetence of the Bush administrations "War on Terror".

9. In my local rag of a newspaper last week,
they had a "piece" (piece of work) from Michael Reagan (the little Gipper) where he flat out states that Saddam was directly behind 9/11.

I blasted the shit out of the editorial board for putting such trash in their paper and doing a great disservice to their readers for perpetuating such outright lies. The editor likes me (the lone liberal at that paper) and actually called me to tell me that the Owner had insisted that piece go in the paper and that he's trying to get my LTTE past the Owner (ahhh....small town rags....don't ya just love 'em).

10. Weekly Standard is run by PNACer William Kristol. Recycling old lies and
adding more b.s. details to sell it to a dumbeddown public.

13. i asked her "didnt the 9/11 comm. and bush himself say there was no connec
and i got this reply:
The terrorists were not Iraqi, there has been no evidence that S.H. planned or even knew of the plans for 9/11.

That however doesn't have anything to do with aiding, financing, training terrorists. Maybe not those terrorist specifically but others. I don't personally need any information about Iraq and 9/11 to know that terrorism against the West was encouraged and helped along in Iraq. That if left alone S.H. would have eventually made O.B.L. look like a not so bad guy. I imagine the furvor of the terrorists in Iraq now. Had the sanctions been lifted, had S.H. stayed in power we would be dealing with them fully financed and supported by a governement. I think S.H. had enough gripe agaist us to easily follow O.B.L.'s lead.

15. Really, and the proof of that is what? Think the lady has Saudi Arabia
and Iraq confused. Does she know that bin Laden also declared a 'fatwa' against Saddam as well? The only training camp in Iraq was in Kurd territory (source CIA). Does she know that there was never an incidence of terrorism against a US citizen by any Iraqi prior to our invasion? Never a car bomb in Baghdad? What bull!
