Worthless reform debate starts in UN

What is the point of such a debate and procedure where none of the G4 (Germany, Brazil, India, Japan) plus the additional 2 African members proposed cannot enjoy veto powers of the P5 (US, UK, France, Russia, China).

Some are more equal than others? American democracy in its full bloom!!

1. Well part of the debate
involves admitting new members to the Security Council.

The original 5 members were put in place after WWII, and not been changed since.

Hence this new plan

2. Yes but....

the P5 have to accept the expansion EVEN after a two thirds vote in the General Assembly for expansion

AND

if they accept it, the 6 new PERMANENT members will not enjoy the power of veto enjoyed by the P5!!

Hardly a democratic reform process or outcome!!

Thanks, I am fully aware of the entire UN history. This is just a worthless expensive sideshow and nothing to do with positive reform.

3. I realize that
but their own rules constrict them.

We'll see how it works out.

It's not an easy organization to either set up or change with 191 countries in it, all pushing their own interests.

Kinda like trying to push an elephant uphill
