"Some Vets Condemn 'Wedding Crashers' Site"
DENVER (AP) - Some military veterans and law enforcement officials are angry about a Web site promoting Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn's comedy "Wedding Crashers."

To win the affections of attractive bridesmaids in the movie, two fun-loving partiers pretend to be Purple Heart recipients.

New Line Cinema's movie Web site includes a fake, paper Purple Heart to cut out, with the spoof: "Carrying a Purple Heart in your jacket guarantees you attention, admiration and plenty of free booze."

"I challenge the producer of that movie to go to Walter Reed Hospital and walk through the ward and see if he still wants to print out a fake Purple Heart," said Thomas Cottone, Jr., a special agent with the FBI who enforces a federal law that prohibits wearing, manufacturing, buying, selling or trading a Medal of Honor.

6. It's the FBI's job to enforce that?
a special agent with the FBI who enforces a federal law that prohibits wearing, manufacturing, buying, selling or trading a Medal of Honor.

Did that strike anyone else as odd?

15. It's not the FBI's job to do that.
That would fall to the Department of Defense.

Basically you can go buy a medal in a pawn shop and they have all kinds, all real.

But the thing is, unless you can cough up the actual ORDER for you to receive the medal, with your name on it, and/or a DD214 showing you were awarded that medal, you can't fully call it yours. As soon as you do, someone who knows about this stuff will ask you to produce the order and when they can't, everyone will know they are lying through their teeth.

10. I couldn't when I first saw it.
But I can now. Nowdays NOTHING a repuke can do would surprise me. I mean NOTHING.

To make fun of the Purple Heart....well, in order to go any lower, you've got to take up kicking puppies and boiling toddlers in oil.

13. Wow. Did they complain when Kerry's Purple Heart was trashed?
I mean.. the republicans thought it was fair game, and the AMericans and MANY MANY veterans voted for Bush, essentially ENDORSING the ridicule of the Purple Heart. And we won't even go into the Purple Heart Bandaid incident.
