WTF ??? - A Little Help Here...
I'm reading through another recently published piece on Rove\Plame (WSJ), and I come across a curious sentence.

What exactly are they saying here (in bold):

<snip>

Ms. Miller remains jailed over her refusal to cooperate. The grand jury's term ends in October, but could be extended for six months if prosecutors believe there is a reason to continue. Ms. Miller could face more time if prosecutors decide to seek criminal-contempt charges.

Mr. Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, said that generally speaking, it wouldn't be unusual for a federal prosecutor to hold the current grand jury over. Mr. Fitzgerald could conclude that extending the investigation might yield little benefit since the grand jury has gathered so much evidence, said Theodore Boutrous Jr., a lawyer who has represented numerous media interests in the case. Victoria Toensing, another lawyer who has represented media interests in the case, said Mr. Fitzgerald likely is feeling pressure to wrap up the investigation quickly, given the fallout that is happening.

Among other things, prosecutors seem to be interested in whether administration officials' stories match those of the reporters they talked to. Mr. Rove, who has testified three times, has told authorities that he learned of the agent's identity from a journalist, or possibly another administration official who learned it from a journalist, according to a person familiar with his testimony.

<snip>

What media interests in the case??? Are they talkin New York Times (Judith Miller)? Are their other media interests, and why would they retain Toensing???

Did I miss somethin here? :wtf:

1. I do NOT like this talk about "shielding reporters" that has come up now.
It almost seems like it was somehow PLANNED, the speed with which it occurred. I have a REAL FEAR that this will lead to complete protection of ALL sources, REGARDLESS, and then the media will be a COMPLETE propaganda tool.

2. I hope Fitzgerald reads that and laughs

Basically that media lawyer is pissed because poor Judy is in jail...

Only fallout that's going on is coming from whiney Judy apologists (some members of the media) oh and Republicans!

Maybe it's people who don't want Fitz to go any further on this case? Or it could be people who don't want Fitz to push more charges on Judy? I bet Judy's sources are crucial to this case. Just speculating of course.

I wonder if he's been getting lots of pressure or threats lately?

3. But Toensing Is The One That Wrote The Law About Exposing Agents !!!
The one that SOMEBODY violated in the Plame case.

She's also married to Joe DeGenova another good little rePublican lawyer. I'm sure BOTH of them would like for this case to go away as quickly as possible.

What's she up to here???

:wtf:

5. I heard a woman on Washington Journal recently, who
was credited with writing that law, so it might have been the same person. She was totally spinning for BushCo. :(

9. Yep. She was arguing that the law hadn't been broken.
How she got into the prosecution's files, I dunno. :eyes:

4. There have been leaks from
Rove's att'y and also leaks from a "former official" and maybe with all the leaks, Fitzgerald will find it more and more difficult to get untainted testimony. This would cause him to wrap it up sooner than he was ready to, but I would think by now he should have a pretty good case against who he thinks were the bad guys.

8. Just think of Toensing as an Elections Results & Discussion TROLL
She's there to advance the right wing * agenda. I heard her on CSpan radio the other day. She makes no sense and is there just to put out propaganda that will help the Bush cause. She'll be lucky if she's not indicted herself. There is a great deal of fear among the right wing; terror is a better word. They realize, or they're starting to realize that they've been had, that Fitzgerald is a "ringer"--a real prosecutor where they expected another tool.

She lies!

11. Good article - mentions interview with Toensing,
that was available on washingtonpost.com - and I was upset that Neal didn't ask her questions. He raises the questions in this article though.

Toensing kept interrupting Neal in the interview and answering him when he was 1/2 done with his question.
