Just heard on CNN: "Shoot to Protect" - that's what the British Police
are saying is more like their policy of shoot to kill related to "suspected" suicide bombers....

:wtf:

Wow, just wow, omfg! Is this really happening in a "Democracy"?

How do Brits feel about being prospective targets if they are "suspected" of doing anything suspicious?

And do my fellow Americans doubt that there isn't such a policy (unofficially now ofcourse) here in the US?

I think I'm going to get sick....what the hell has happened to our world! This is not the kind of democracy I grew up with!

2. Protect how? Maybe British police now adopted the policy
of that mother who killed her two kids so they go off to heaven?

6. Is it only me? This is just pure insanity & goes against everything our
democracies and the rule of law and civil liberties and protection against government misrule and abuse against citizenry.

I'm sorry, but this is just way over the line. I want to be safe, I want my fellow citizens and human beings to be safe, but if we give up our civil liberties and allow our governments to be able to throw law out and go around shooting "suspects", then as far as I'm concerned, we know longer have a democracy and the terrorists have won.

This is so scary....

Is it only me that feels this way?

4. Same argument Bush uses for Iraq.
Shoot somebody -- anybody. It will make us feel protected, even if the dead somebody is innocent of threatening us.

The fact that we feel safer while not actually being any safer is irrelevant in BushWorld.

8. Yeah, and we are all safer, aren't we thanks to *?
Like my sigline says, we are creating enemies faster than we can kill them....

As far as I'm concerned, all the terrorism that has been happening is a direct result of the policies of the Bush Administration and their so-called "War on Terra"....

:grr:

And meanwhile, our democracies and civil liberties and protections here in America, in the UK are being eroded and flushed down the toilet..:hurts:

Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 10:59 AM by rustydog
If the subject dies as a result..too bad. He or she should have stopped.

shooting to wound is only in the movies folks. You shoot to stop.

15. Five-tap in the head on the ground is a HIT.
The only difference between this hit and a Mob hit is the Mob seldom leaves witnesses.

Don't "Shoot to Protect" for me. My Karma has taken enough hits in life already.

18. Specially when you ALREADY KNOW
you're trailing the WRONG GUY!!!

"There are eight separate flats in the block. When Mr Menezes emerged from the communal front door just after 9.30am, the police must have realised from the photographs they carried that he was not one of the four bombers. Even so they decided that he was “a likely candidate” to follow because of his demeanour and colour, so one group set off on foot after him."
