Maker Of Taser Launching Media Blitz

Miami, FL (AHN) - Taser International, the manufacturer behind the highly controversial stun guns used by police, will begin a new marketing campaign Tuesday in South Florida aimed at selling Taser devices to the general public.

Although Tasers have been available for consumption by the public for years, they were mainly purchased by security guards has a substitute for not being able to carry guns.

A demonstartion will be held Tuesday in downtown Miami in an attempt to educate the general public on the product - what it does and how it works.

Local police authorities fear the new marketing will trigger irresponsible and improper use of the civilian version taser called the X-26C.

The X-26C is just like the police version, except that the electrical wires that transmit the charge are 15 feet long instead of 25. It costs between $400 and $1,000.
