New ARG Poll: Chimpy In FREE FALL (Approve 36%, Disapprove 58%)
George W. Bush's Job Approval Ratings Drop

George W. Bush's overall job approval ratings have dropped from a month ago even as Americans who approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president are turning more optimistic about their personal financial situations according to the latest survey from the American Research Group. Among all Americans, 36% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 58% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 33% approve and 62% disapprove.

Among Americans registered to vote, 38% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 56% disapprove, and 36% approve of the way Bush is handling the economy and 60% disapprove.

This is the second month in a row when improving economic ratings have not been matched by higher job approval ratings for Bush. A total of 24% of Americans now say their personal financial situations are getting better, up from 17% in July, and 27% say they believe that their personal financial situations will be better off a year from now, which is up from 21% in July.

The increases in the personal financial ratings, however, are coming mainly from those approving of the way Bush is handling his job. A total of 54% of those approving the way Bush is handling his job say their personal financial situations are getting better, compared to 5% of those saying they disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job, and 61% of those saying they approve of the way Bush is handling his job say they expect to be better off a year from now, compared to 6% of those saying they disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job.

Who really cares about approval ratings in the second term?

It's all bs anyway. No way of knowing how legitimate or representative the sample actually is. They can make it say whatever they want.

Don't know why they are polling Bush, he's not running again. I guess they are figuring if Bush polls real low then that means defeat for Repubs in 2008. Liberal Pipe Dreams!

I'll go by the Nov 2004 poll results, that's one that truly counted, LMAO.

Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 10:31 AM by DeepModem Mom
stop sucking up to this cabal that neglects the basics of governance, and has us in a war that is a disaster of historical proportions. Bush is NOT a nice guy, but an extremist; he and those who pull his strings are a danger to this great nation's very survival. Turn up the burner on Rove, et. al., dig out the truth about the cabal's sleaze and treachery, and let's get these people out, starting, at the least, with the 2006 elections!

21. The freeps fail to see the significance
This does signal severe problems for the right. People will vote for change in the next election. That is the significance.
Bush sneaked in the first time (though losing the popular vote) due to that segment that wanted "change".
And that segment will be much larger in the next general election.
Bad news for the right. Their time is waning.

24. Next March, if we make it
He'll be lucky to get twenty percent, as the cost of fuel is way over three dollars a gallon, and people have came through a cold dark winter, and the bills come in from christmas for those who ignored the new bk law, and we're at over 2000 dead in Iraq and if we're not already at war in Iran.

We've got some dark and dangerous days ahead of us.

36. That's how I feel
Between the doubling of the cc payments, the new bankruptcy laws, the increase of gasoline, the increase of heating oil, the increase in oil - which pretty much means increased prices all around-, increased ARM payments --and then there's Christmas, how can we avoid a serious downturn this winter?

26. Am Research used to be one of those outlier polls
like Zogby and Ipsos-Reid, a mirror of Fox and Pew who always came up with boffo numbers for Bush. But looking at Pollkatz's recent compendium, AR has been in the middle of the pack for the past year. So these figures aren't skewed by a pollster's bias, the Chimp is diving hard and we should hear confirmation from others shortly :D
