Ambassador Wilson knows?
My take is that Wilson knows who leaked the info and is stringing this along to do as much damage as possible before letting the hammer fall? Don't look to hear or read who it is because it is just too hot for that kind of release.

He would not give up his sources either until the handcuffs are ready to be placed. I've watched his demeanor while he speaks on TV and he looks like he knows more than he is saying. He said to Paula Zahn last night on CNN (according to transcript I read) that Novak called him before he wrote the story to get him to confirm what he had gotten from CIA.

I truly believe that Wilson knows who it is and has irrefutable evidence locked away Remember his wife is a CIA operative and getting names and info is her speciality that is what she gets paid to do. I too believe that the CIA has her back. I don't believe Wilson would have come forward and not have anything to back this up because in the end he would be totally discredited and he knows it.

This my story and I am sticking by it. My sources are?

1. candy, I like the way you think
I think Wilson is doing everything imaginable to keep his family from being Kellyed. And Plame sounds like she was a big player at the old CIA. They definitely know how to work things covertly...

I hope you're right.
I think you're right.

KKKarl, get ready to be frog-marched!

2. But he HAS said who he thinks it is
..at least one person. And that's Karl Rove. The other person could be his assistant, or maybe Dick Cheney.

Either way, this man is a pro. He knows what he's doing. And to have the CIA on his side....well, if I were Rove, I'd be a little sweaty right now.

3. He already said he know who it is
He got word from the other reporters who Rove shopped it to.

Rove said his wife was "fair game"

5. AND she WAS an operative
from the Lehrer report:

LARRY JOHNSON: Let's be very clear about what happened. This is not an alleged abuse. This is a confirmed abuse. I worked with this woman. She started training with me. She has been undercover for three decades, she is not as Bob Novak suggested a CIA analyst. But given that, I was a CIA analyst for four years. I was undercover. I could not divulge to my family outside of my wife that I worked for the Central Intelligence Agency until I left the agency on September 30, 1989. At that point I could admit it.

So the fact that she's been undercover for three decades and that has been divulged is outrageous because she was put undercover for certain reasons. One, she works in an area where people she meets with overseas could be compromised. When you start tracing back who she met with, even people who innocently met with her, who are not involved in CIA operations, could be compromised. For these journalists to argue that this is no big deal and if I hear another Republican operative suggesting that well, this was just an analyst fine, let them go undercover. Let's put them overseas and let's out them and then see how they like it. They won't be able to stand the heat.

6. I'm guessing
that anything Wilson doesn't know, the CIA does.

Not that I think the DOJ is gonna do anything like a thorough investigation without considerable prompting...but I expect the CIA has plenty of interesting prompts available.

And I hope that every Dem congresscritter...and maybe a genuine conservative or three...keeps after this.

7. The key factor here is that the CIA knows exactly who did it...
...and they're not taking any prisoners. Before this is all over, the White House squatters may just find themselves evicted.

IMHO, before the CIA went public with this story, they made darn sure that they had allies in the DOJ to carry out a REAL investigation. I'm thinking right now that there is a large faction within the DOJ that has grown VERY tired of Ashcroft's nonsense. Some judges are even making rulings that are opposed to Ashcroft's publicly spoken desires.

And if you look closely, you'll see that there is a faction in the military that is also leaking damaging information as fast as they can.

Additionally, the mainstream media has been given a green light to pursue this story, and they are doing so with a real vengeance. The fact that Andrea Mitchell, Greenspan's wife, filed a story on this issue should tell anyone that the Bushies are in deep trouble.
