An hour to go, and Dean's at $14.7M
Will he make it? What will Q4 bring? How will the other candidates do? And most importantly, will this donation groundswell continue to the eventual nominee in the general?

2. Actually, he's got til midnight for the Eastern time zone
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 10:17 PM by Eloriel
but midnight also in each successive time zone -- so 3 a.m. Eastern for the final numbers.

Yep, he's gonna make it.

Edit: And no, if the nominee isn't Dean, I do not think the donation train is transferrable. The vote will be mostly transferrable, but not the energy, not the activism, and not as much of the donations.

5. And 2 weeks to count the money that's come in as checks.
The final tally in 2 weeks will be much higher than 15 million, more like 16 million probably!

8. I disagree
I think whoever the nominee is will gather huge amounts of money. Especially after the national convention. As long as it isn't Lieberman, whoever carries the torch will be able to raise plenty of money.

10. I tend to agree with you
The bats are like a cash magnet, but if Dean is not the nominee, I suspect he'll lend the bats out, and urge people to donate. People first and foremost want Bush out, and I think Dems will continue to work toward that goal no matter who is at the helm.

3. there's only 1 hour left on the East coast…
but there's still 4 more hours to go on the West coast.

I have no doubt they'll have raised in excess of $15 million by midnight on the left coast.

not until 3am! I'll have to find out final tally tomorrow.

So Cool Dean is on the Left Coast tonight!

Let's hope it stays that way!

11. Some of us right coasters
have to work tomorrow and I don't want to teach my classes looking like this. :hangover: I guess I will have to miss the big party when the $15 M goal is reached. At least I feel like I contributed to the party since I put in a few more bucks today.

4. Whether or not Dean wins the nomination, I believe that he
is almost single-handedly responsible for the turn in sentiment in this country toward our current administration. I donated again today even though I'm not sure who I'll be voting for.

13. I had my doubts
all month that the campaign would make their goals in members and funds. I'm really amazed. I can hardly believe how they hit their target each time. There are so many very smart people working for this campaign. I think they just may very well win the nomination and the general election--that is We will win. I hope more and more people see the importance of the grassroots support behind Dean. I hate to think what will happen to all this energy and mobilizing if we fail. Also, I think Dean would be such an outstanding president.

15. The Dem nominee will have plenty
Soros has an organization that is going to raise millions, and there are others too that will raise plenty for the Dem nominee. It has nothing to do with Dean, if he loses there will be plenty there for a say, Kerry or Gephardt or Edwards (had to give my favs a mention).

Bush will still likely enjoy an money advantage, but not so much that it is unmanageable or fatal to the Dem.

$14,754,387

Not a bad chunk of change for 10 days! Loved how the campaign made over $400,000 from that conference call last night. Brilliant idea!
