Should the Dems shut-down the Senate?
until an independent counsel is called-for?

Filibuster, filibuster, filibuster?

I can imagine this getting a ton of coverage. Press conferences every other day, to keep the story fresh, and to frame the debate closer to our terms. I'm betting that the public's general anti-Bush mood will translate into support for this. Maybe we should be flooding Congress with emails and phone calls.

2. No
Doing that came back to bite the Republicans in 1996. Whenever a party does that they just look like obstructionists. It is tempting but it would be a bad move.

I'd rather it be for the cause of BBV.

1st Rule of Chicago ward politics:

"Never step in front of a perfectly good train wreck."

Shutting down the Senate would be EXTREMELY counter-productive; the American people need to perceive us as the 'good guys' on this one.

11. The GOP has already "closed" down Senate business,
in an attempt to squelch this Traitorgate scandal. It has been morning sessions all this week so far.

Personally, I don't think shutting down the Senate looks good, however certain issues, like judge appointments etc could be fillibustered, and this scandal would provide plenty for them to talk about.
