Reading the Smoke from California.......I think there's a message
Now that we have the LA Times poll that confirms Arnold at 40%, I think the Dems better look at the message that is coming through all this.

If the people of CA knew even a tenth of what we discuss here at DU regarding the vile purposes and assault on our democracy by the Bush administration, they would in no way, shape or form allow any republican to take the governorship. They would either vote to keep Davis or they would vote for Bustamante, a Green, or an Independent. Obviously, they are not afraid at all of the lovely republicans even when their state took a direct hit from this Mafia and it's henchmen, Enron which caused so much of the problems in the first place. In fact if you add McClintoch's (sp?) 12% to Arnolds 40% you get 52% of the voters in that state willing to give their government to the republicans.

It seems obvious that the people of CA must think that in general Bush is a decent, honest, good person. And while, like the rest of the country, they may be getting war weary and "price tag for war weary", they must have no clue what these criminals are about. With all of the assaults from a made-up war, to the transfer of wealth by the bucket fulls to the wealthy, to Halliburton, etc., they seem to have the same 'teflon' view of this administration as do so many others in this nation. And, if that's the view in a state that is liberal, then that is not good for this party. Somehow we still have yet to convey what a threat Bush and his crime organization are....and, I tell you, I don't know what else we can do to get that point across.

2. It’s a push poll
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 03:29 PM by zeemike
And its purpose is to discourage voters from voting because Arnold has it wrapped up.
Only a massive voter turn out will keep them from stealing the governorship.

21. Are you Sure? Maybe it's designed to scare people!
Into thinking that Arnold may win, and get them motivated to vote.

I just can't see that there are so many regressives in one of our most progressive states.

3. Hard Not To Be Upset
I am a Californian, and it is hard not to be upset thinking about what you say. It is becoming more and more obvious; there should be no excuse for people to now think Bush is a decent, honest, good person.

I am appalled by the idea that people would even think of letting somebody like Schwarzenegger become governor, or that somebody like him would in any way be an improvement over Gray Davis (whetever anybody might think of Gray Davis). I am hoping my fellow Californians will come to their senses and realize that whether they like Gray Davis or not, voting for the recall will almost certainly do more harm than good.

While voting No on the recall, it would probably be wise to vote for Bustamante just in case the recall passes.

4. IF there was a democrat left in CA...
They would be SCREAMING for Davis to resign
to prevent the repukkke take over.
If Davis was a dem, he WOULD resign and Bustemante
would automatically become the governer-
RETAINING democratic control.

Anybody want to debate my theory
that the move to a one party government is
being enabled with the complicity of our so-called
democratic leaders?

HELLO?
The one and only way to assure that the state
remains in the Democratic Party rule is for Davis to resign.
So the question is: Why hasn't he?

6. if Davis resigns the election still goes forward..
Bustamante would only be governor until the winner of the election took over...

Bustemante would remain in office and give the
dems more time to expose the FRAUD!

7. This has been discussed before.
Davis resigning would not have cancelled the recall. It would have proceeded anyway.

5. Starpass
I post on another board and have explained to the idiotic repukes what is going on in Ca. ......THEY DON'T CARE! They poo-poo the electronic voting machine issue as a democratic conspiracy theory. Ahhhhnold is just "peachy" as far as they are concerned. They don't care that Arnold has been in a meeting with Enron's Ken Lay. Anybody is better than Davis. They DON'T CARE that the shrub is a crook. They refuse to believe it...after all, he IS a man of G-D you know! He could NEVER do the things we Dems accuse him of doing. They truly are DELUSIONAL!

10. incog...........but apparently there must be enough Dems in liberal
CA who are going along with this. The Dems have to be in the majority out there, so why are too many of them not realizing what they are letting in the door. That's what concerns me. How many like them throughout this nation still don't have a clue about this crime organization who took over D.C. It gives me the chills.

11. The problem is the media. Doesn't anybody get it?
The local news spins every story in favor of Arnold. It's quite shocking. But, if you have the money and the access to people's minds, you can make them do whatever you want.

Yes, most of CA is Dem. But they're selling Arnold as a moderate and they're destroying Davis and Bustamante.

12. I agree
and I keep asking where all of those "Liberal" Hollywood types are! They seem to be afraid to speak out after the RW attacked Tim Robbins, Martin Sheen and Tim's significant other...what's her name? ....Susan Sarandan (sp?):) I NEVER see any of the Liberals speaking out now. I don't get it. It's become a frightening state of affairs. Unless THEY know something WE don't know?

At the LA Dean Rally last night, Rob Reiner & Sheen spoke against the recall as well as Dean.

13. These numbers have to be manufactured..
I really can't believe them at all. Even republicans are at odds w/ many of Arnold's views and the republican party has turned hoards of non-voters into liberal activists.

Who are they polling, what methods? Does anyone really belive that moron has this much support?

It shows that they don't think much of Davis. It also shows that they don't associate Arnold with Bush.

20. So I talked to a Republican acquaintance who got polled.
First they asked to speak to any Republican in the household. When this person said she was a Republican, they then asked her if she was voting for or against the recall. Then they asked her who she was going to vote for on the second part. So if they are only polling Republicans, no wonder Arnold is polling high.
