Did Dean's campaign manager really float a 40 million

figure as a possible goal for fundraising for this quarter? Because while 15 million is impressive, it's not even close to 40 mill. Maybe Trippi was just playing games?
I thought there were even figures of 20-25 million being talked about by the Dean campaign and others? This must be a relief to some of the other candidates that the actual number wasn't this high!
He was talking about the potential fundraising possibilities based on small donations. Basically, he said that if each of the 400,000 people signed up to the campaign donated $100 each, that would be an instant $40 million.
What he said was that if each of the 400,000 registered Dean supporters (at that point) contributed $100 each, that would amount to $40 million. Nobody inside the campaign expected that number of contributors this quarter. He was simply providing an example of how much money can be contributed by ordinary people making small donations to a candidate they believe in. NOT that every single Dean supporter online would donate $100. What I find utterly remarkable though is that at we're maintaining the pace of at least a third of registered supporters donating an average of well under $100 apiece. That's a massive and totally unprecedented response rate.
By the way, did you do any research to try and find the answer yourself? Or were you just too lazy to do so? Or did you already know the answer? Inquiring minds want to know...
