Did I miss something about Wilson?
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 05:48 PM by TreasonousBastard
Remember all those incidents over the years when diplomats were being recalled because they were accused of being spies? Most of it was a silly game of international "gotcha," but once in a while someone was caught with his pants down.

Never once, though, do I remember anyone actually admitting spies were in the embassy, carrying something more than lunch in the diplomatic pouches. Not the sort of thing anyone wants to be made public, although it's no secret every embassy is crawling with intelligence types. It's like some kinds of sex-- we know you do it, and we probably do too, it's just no one wants to be the first to admit it.

Until now.

Was Wilson's wife working for the CIA when he was Ambassador to Gabon? Acting Ambassador to Iraq? Any of the other diplomatic posts he held?

Did the nefarious leaker, and Novak, admit to the world that the Ambassador's wife was a spy?

The Ambassador's WIFE was a SPY?

What a thing to say...

How incredibly, unbelievably stupid.

1. Valerie Plame was a CIA operative for 3 decades, according to
retired CIA agent Larry Johnson in his interview with Jim Lehrer on PBS NewsHour yesterday. So, it would seem likely that this would include at least some of the time frame of Wilson's diplomatic postings.

However, I prefer to resist leaping to any conclusions regarding spying in embassies. From my understanding, her "cover" involved being employed by a private corporation, NOT by being an ambassador's wife.

2. OVER 3 decades - she started in the 80s
and her service spanned 3 decades. I don't think she is old enough to have served for 3 full decades.

4. Do you actually know how old she is?
I was merely quoting Larry Johnson, who very sepcifically said that she's been an agent for "3 decades". Joseph Wilson looks to be in his late 50's or early 60's. If his wife is around the same age, she very well could have begun her career in her 20's or early 30's. I don't see the problem.

3. These are Republicans...
brains are an option for them.

Let's not forget, these are the people that would "never dream" of using political office for personal gain. It was a warning shot for those that may follow.

Besides, Novak is a shill for the GOP. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
