Too bad Buchanan doesn't work in this WH
I am no Buchanan fan, but he seems to stick to his principles(twisted as some of them are).

Besides, we could use a little "deep throat" right now...

Buchanan has to know some of these crooks from the Nixon/Ford days. Bet he's got some interesting insights on some of these characters.

Question 1: If Novak gets called before a Grand Jury, does he spill the beans in order to plea? I think some heat should be turned up on Novak.

Question 2: If other journalists WERE contacted, and they chose NOT to publish the info, then could they reveal the source, as they did not actually use it?

Question 3: When will the press start bringing up Rove's past tactics? There's a pattern there clear as day.

1. I don't know about question 3
But from the NPR show I listened to this morning, questions one and two both get a big "no".

The person on NPR was making a point that journalists are like doctors and lawyers- they are people that you want to be able to disclose information to in a pinch. If you can't trust them to keep your confidentiality, then would you go to them in the first place?

By extension, the second question is a no as well. Even though they didn't print a story, they still have a right to protect their sources.

I find Novak as disgusting as the next person, but I don't think it would be appropriate to compel him to reveal his sources.

2. I don't know
Since the sources themselves revealed a source...

What a tangled web we weave.

3. kudos to Buchanan...
...he's got a razor mind and an incredible news nose.

While Bill Press was bobbing and weaving, Buchanan was keenly attuned to what Larry Johnson was saying, and shoved Press aside in order to draw Johnson out and make some news!

It was a FINE news moment. Electrifying, actually.

4. I don't believe that there is any love lost between Buchanan
and the Bush family. Here are your answers

1. He won't spill the beans and why make him a martyr.

2. No, they are still sources.

3. Rove's name is all over the place since this WH does not do policy, but politics.
