500+ now stranded on the freeway. Reporter pleading for help
The number is growing on the freeway, no help, no food, hot concrete. Shepard smith is reporting from it. He just pleaded for help to come to this corner. Underpass on interstate 10. There is a woman holding a 3 year old that doesnt seem conscious because of heat exhaustion. She said there are several babies on this underpass. Shepard keeps saying they see the help but no one will come up there. He said he knows there is help and keeps screaming the address so help will come, at least water. people are sooo hot on that concrete.

he reported from that spot from 12-1pm...they might go back to him. But he is pleading on the air and giving the address. He says help can reach them but nothing is coming.

14. Well WHAT THE FUCK???
Why is no one sending help?

I completely do NOT understand this. He was on FUX News for an HOUR giving out the address, describing an unconscious three year old and several other people and babies who are dehydrated and no one has come to bring water or something?

Holy shit, what is going on there?

I don't watch FUX so I wouldn't have known about this.

20. Shep appears to be turning more liberal each day
I think he is finding these desperate people, regardless of class or color, are deserving of help.

I have read conservative posts that say the cleaning out of the "black urban garbage" by death, because of Katrina, is a national blessing.
Yet, these Bushbots tout how Christian they and their president are. They totally repulse me.

49. actually
no, I've been through 5 hurricanes in my life and only evacuated for one of them. After the storm my brothers and I took our flat bottom boat and took water and blankets to people, we used my jeep to pull cars to higher ground. The big difference was I didn't have a camera or microphone while doing it. Now good ole Shep is calling for help, that's a good thing, ask yourself how Shep got there? Is there a big ole Fox van nearby? Is Shep payed by a company that has has the resources to move in aid? Is it wrong for a reporter to drop the microphone and become the news?

I myself couldn't be a reporter in times like these, I would be too busy helping people, just as I have in the past.

And yes I have venom for Fox news, they are the ones responsible for selling a false war and spreading our resources so thin we couldn't respond to this Storm in force.

46. Disaster relief has been dismantled
FEMA is a shell of what it was under Clinton.

Team Bush gutted it for their recreational war.

And if there's another hurricane this season that destroys another city, they will suffer the same fate.

Tornado supercells. Blizzards. Earthquakes. Epidemics. Terrorist attacks. We saw it four Septembers ago, we're seeing it now, and we will see it again. The response will be the same: if the problem is too big, the victims will be left to dangle for at least five days, and probably longer.

There will then be a major show of concern as Our Courageous and Beloved Leader surveys the damage once it's safe enough to visit. Yellow and Red-White-and-Blue ribbons will sell again like cheap porn. Country musicians will jump on the bandwagon just as soon as they can find one. And Bill Clinton will be denounced from the pulpits of the TV journalism priesthood.

Team Bush will pat itself on the back, and when nobody's watching, they'll pull the rug out from under the victims a second time.

It has finally come to this in America: We're on our own.

65. Jesus Christ who cares who is reporting it??
Babies are dying from lack of water and the heat. And that can't be the only place this is happening, there are children and sick people all over that city, stranded without water for days in the sweltering heat. There was a hospital with a hundred babies where the generator was stolen and they are begging for help.

I can't stand this, I can't stand it. I want to kill someone. This is unreal. We are worse than a third-world country, they don't have the means to help themselves in a disaster, we just choose to write off some people.
