FEMA knew the "water impact" from a Cat 4/5 - and showed up "UNPREPARED"?
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 06:40 AM by cthrumatrix
I don't buy it.

FEMA wrote the damn book in 2001 on what would happen with the levvy and potential breeches with a cat 4/5 hurricane in NO.

They brief the President in 2001 on this being one of three potential National Disasters.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In 2001, FEMA ranked a major hurricane strike on New Orleans as “among the three likeliest, most castastrophic disasters facing this country.” Bush slashed hurricane funding anyway. August 29, 2005 10:19

------------------------------------------------------------------

SO what happens when they show up...."THEY DIDN'T PLAN FOR FLOODING"?

what??????????

yep...This is the FEMA Director "excuse"...."it impeded our ability"

Exucse me...? You wrote the f'ing book on what would happen and you are now saying this???????

None of this makes sense...this is not incompetence.

This is like a heart surgeon showing up for surgery without the ability to "operate".

This is planned chaos IMHO. The nex question is why?

Why does FEMA and the Federal Govt (or other ) want chaos?

1. Have you read Atlas Shrugged?
They might have the same scenario in mind--chaos destroys the socialist types and the business elite takes over.

3. actually I'm thinking more "controlled collapse of economy" via energy
prices.

they knew this would happen...they knew about the energy concentration.

and this happens...no fucking way

our economy is toast with the approaching housing bubble, falling dollar, infaltionary pressure and shit service jobs becuase of outsourcing.

TPTB cannot have things implode based on govt incompetence...they needed another 911.

EVERYTHING will be blamed on Katrina.

And, we might be. Trauma is exhausting, even secondary trauma - watching someone else's.

Who just like suffering of other people. It's the only logical explanation. Human incompetance in the face of this enormous storm - well, it's just not credible. Nope the only possible explanation is planned misery.

5. not when you are talking about OIL.... this has been allowed. Oil is the
tool for the economy...this will bring down the economy

now why would they want to do that?

Ask why they whitewased 911 and look where our military is now.

By the way anybody can type a bunch of vaguely ominous non-sequiters, and pretend that is an explanation.

pay lipservice to the antiabortion VOTERS.

They prefer killing off the weak and poor while mewling about the unborn and contraception.

15. Talking about a category 4 or 5 storm
is somewhat misleading. It is really a question of what part of the storm passes over you (or more broadly, effects you).

And the hype earlier in the week was all about how the storm (the central, strongest part of the storm) missed NO. So the storm (the storm's core -- which had weakened by the time that it got that far north, as I recall) misses NO -- and they use the core's maximum strength (which did not hit NO) as an excuse for their failures.

Well, I guess the average American has no memory of recent events -- or they can't sort out the useful information from all the bullshit (which is exactly what our overlords wish).

And the levees weren't washed away like a huge storm surge might have done -- they were breached (which doesn't always even require being crested) and the breaches expanded over time. As for this risk (that of levees (or "dams") failing), it is a common knowledge (and common sense), reinforced by numerous movies, TV programs, studies, historical examples, etc. And all a person has to do is look up and see water above (the height of) their head to see where this is a risk.

There was a reconnaissance flight on Monday to inspect the levees. They saw at least one breach (in an early stage, as I remember it) and nothing (as far as I know) was done promptly.

As for pre-positioned supplies (if true) -- what did they do -- position these where they could be flooded out? This is worse than stupid -- it is wasteful -- and it vividly demonstrates incompetence.

they did not plan for rising water....?????????

where were helipcopter drops...before "these snipers took over"?

why were the mayors pleads not answered immediately?

this is beyond incompetence.

VERY well paid "experts" are paid for "planning and execution"

28. Since they had before Monday to prepare
They should of had it all under control. When the storm hit, they should of been bringing in all the food and water they could get their hands on. Also boats, Is there a shortage of Boats in our military and police? Hardly any law enforcement boats or any military boats in the water.

I called both Senators, both Republican and reamed them about Homeland Security. I said that if it had been my city, we would of all died waiting on Homeland Security to do it's job. We are not protected before or after any kind of attack..
