Might future hurricanes doubt our resolve?

2. WOW, good point!

Maybe we should be more careful about what we say. Another thing to consider - will people see the hurricane victims benefiting from all the handouts to the point that it will encourage other people seek hurricanes out??

27. I'm pretty sure George Bush's god drives a hummer and
has a whole different set of beatitudes

Blessed are the rich and greedy, for they will get theirs
Blessed are those who consume conspicuously, them poor folks wouldn't know what to do with it anyways
Blessed are the McMansion owners, for their votes shall be counted twice
Blessed are they who avoid prosecution, their patron saint shall be Tom DeLay
Blessed are the ruthless and the tight-fisted, you get more money that way
Blessed are the sanctimonious and the judgmental, otherwise you will have men getting married to turtles
Blessed are the defense contractors, they will dwell in the house of Dick Cheney
Blessed are the makers of the voting machines, with them all things are possible
Blessed are you when the protesters show up, there's fire ants out there and Larry, and plenty of Keystone Light.

The Blame the Dems isn't workin'. So they will start blaming NOAA and the weather. Of course, then we're back to "Nobody could have anticipated." But it won't stop them from blaming NOAA for not anticipating.

24. A hidden relevance
Just as the failure of 9/11 to conveniently wipe out Congress denied easy dictatorship to the Shrub who had made his joking wistfully prophetic comment earlier, the fact this was a NATURAL disaster did not stop the jarring inappropriate agenda from being carried out anyway.

They were prepared for terrorism, they acted AS IF it was terrorism but missteps fell all over the reality. Would the governor have balked at martial law and fed takeover.? Would Geraldo bravely have been holding radioactive babies wondering why help wasn't pouring in? Would anyone have questioned too much any cautious delay or "training"? Would any news media have dared much less thought about the lack of real readiness?

No, it would have all been overwhelmed. As it was, as on 9/11, Bush acted wrongly in everything. By doing nothing and then letting his drawers drop to reveal he was was actually impeding prevention and rescue.

because it was the wrong disaster, but they went into exploitive takeover mode anyway by half measures and irrationally inappropriate behavior.

Because if it didn't fall into their laps perfectly they were too incompetent or lazy to make tyranny appear "natural". Because they make it work anyway a la Rove and the long media and political compliance that appeared to still draw on a mysterious blank check from the bottomless reserves of the USA they have seized control of.

This is a serious issue. The lunacy is as understandable and revealing as the natural lazy faire vulture mode that repels the still naive reporters who have resonating shreds of humanity if not intellect or professionalism left.

Fearing that there might NOT be a terrorist attack this year, they must inappropriately exploit tragedy in a crazy quilt march to Iran and other weirdly off-base "connections" with the incredible level of dissent squelched by brute power moves and elimination of civil rights.

In reality too, no country trying to stem the Bush tide of aggression should have given us a drop of oil, as necessary to their own economic or humanitarian interests it might have been. For, if we the people fail to check or bring down this criminal regime, they will go ahead anyway, using the 6 million from Bangladesh, Chavez' donations and oil,
and any other goodwill substituting for a raped Federal budget- to wage war on the world for oil.

25. Stop it this instant! I am going to claim that you are all harassing me!

I went to the University of Miami, therefore I could be called a HURRICANE.

Then I went to U. C. L. A. briefly, so I could be called a BRUIN. (I finished school back at the U of M, but that's another story...)

If you spell it differently, you could say I am a HURRICANE BREWIN'.

You're playing that weathered RACE CARD here and I'm not going to take it!
