Folks, it’s becoming clearer and clearer that a non-profit lobby organization is needed to promote election reform in this country.
When I first took up the touch-screen voting machine issue, I believed that it would be simply a matter of educating a few national (Democratic ???) political leaders on the issue and the matter would be quickly solved by self-interest on the part of the politicians. That is turning out to be quite naïve. Moreover, it seems that the very organizations we would normally turn to as lobbyists are, in many cases, inexplicably on the other side of the issue. And to cap it all off, we are finding that the issue goes far beyond touch screen voting machines and extends into a bewildering array of laws that lock away the very evidence needed to establish just how far down the rabbit-hole the country is.
So I ask, who here has experience:
1.) Forming non-profit corporations 2.) Forming political lobby organizations 3.) Writing grants 4.) Approaching the right people for founder’s grants 5.) Managing such a corporation once formed
I believe that, once properly formed, we will have no problem attracting nationally known leaders on the issue. I also believe that, after the next few elections, this organization will be a “growth opportunity” attracting a larger and larger audience.
Our founding principle: All elections should be auditable and audited and that the paper trail generated by free elections should be open for all to examine.
Any interest?
