Her uncle is Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, the departing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She married Chertoff’s current chief of staff, John F. Wood, on Saturday.

Gee, how come we haven't seen this in the mainstream media.

1. Lou Dobbs did a piece on it last night

Bringing up the fact she was Myer's neice and that she had no criminal experience, whatsoever. As well as all the job hopping she has done in the past few years. He made a comment to the effect that you would think that this administration would do a better job in vetting their appointments.

2. Actually Lou Dobbs devoted a segment to exposing her "credentials"

last night. I don't normally watch him or CNN, but I was stuck cat-sitting yesterday evening and there he was (Dobbs) linking her crony credentials to the scandal over Brownie., etc...

3. The first I heard of it

was on the news last night. Were it not for Brown, (the scapegoat) she would have slipped in without a single question. The report on Lou Dobbs was a good one, mentioning that political appointments could no longer go unchallenged in view of what we had discovered after Katrina and Brown and how appointments of people with no experience, had proven to be disastrous.

I haven't seen anything about it anywhere else. According to the report, Democrats are questioning her ability to do the job, but Republicans are holding firm, as always. They don't care how many people die as a result of incompetence, (although I have come to believe that incompetence is exactly what's needed to work for this group).

Thank you Lou Dobbs, for at least making us aware of this ridiculous appointment. Time to start bombarding Congress with outraged phonecalls and emails before we are faced with another disaster, imo.

She is the niece of Gen. Myers, that's all that's needed ~ she'll be a loyal servant who will follow orders like a good soldier.

8. Connections, yes and her connection

to Gen. Myers should be of grave concern, imo. I wonder who will be really in charge, Gen. Myers or his niece?

According to the Lou Dobbs show, she is 36 years old, is an attorney and is currently on her honeymoon and 'not available for interviews' at the moment. Otoh, a defender of the nomination interviewed on the show, said he had spoken to her, so I guess she's available, just no to anyone who is questioning her qualifications.

It seems that one of the job requirements is that the nominee have at least 5 years experience. Lou Dobbs said that she does not have that background, but has 'cobbled together' years of experience in various areas to come up with the 5 years. I cannot believe the brazen attitude these people have had.

Nespotism, cronyism, is ruining this country under this administration. I really hope this nomination becomes a major issue.

CNN is busy blaming Mayor Nagin for Katrina now, and has all but forgotten the crime of the Federal Government not getting to the scene until five, or was it six days, after it happened and still hasn't reached many areas that were affected.

Fema's blocking of life-giving help was criminal also, and Chertoff and Haley Barbour are never mentioned in terms of responsibility. If the people do not keep on top of this, Rove will succeed in spinning it all away again, and before long we'll be on to something else.

This woman is in no way qualified for this job, and the fact that Bush is still making these ridiculous nominations is proof positive that HE and his entire administration, have to go, imo.

Bodies are still lying on US streets, going on four weeks after this disaster. That is NOT Nagin's fault. The Federal government gave a contract out to a company, another friend of Bush's, who obviously cannot handle this very important work, and will not let the local undertakers do the job themselves. Another major crime, imo. But everything they do is criminal. The question is why is it taking so long to get rid of them. They are destroying this country.
