DUers bitching about the media coverage of freeper "rally" but
I have just been through several layers of threads and most of them are on the same topic here at DU. There are at least a dozen, possibly more, threads about the pro-war "rally." What's up with that? I don't give a flying rats ass about their stupid little gathering which was so obviously outdone by the hundreds of thousands of American patriots who marched against this illegal and immoral war...not to mention this corrupt regime. With all that happened yesterday, with all the good still happening there for the next couple of days why are people here focused on what the freepers are doing? In fact, it seems to me lately so many threads are about what the freepers are saying and what they are doing here or there, WHO CARES! I come here to hear about what DU is doing. Why are people here complaining about the coverage the freepers are getting while doing so maintaining that same focus? WTF?

1. They are gloating. It's hard not to do. I mean you're right
we overwhelmed them in numbers with our Pro-Peace march and we are the clear majority, but sometimes it feels good to gloat.

3. Well, I see your point, gloating is okay but I would just like to see
more threads about what our people did.

10. Gloating is a sign of having been beaten down and now having revenge.
It's ugly. Isn't being right enough? I don't know if DUers are gloating or simply being right. Gloating is a characteristic I'd apply, if it's required, to Freepers. Nyah nyay, we got you.. Nah. Getting everyone onto the same page is what counts. A day without corrupt "leaders" is what we need.

It's very hard for some to admit that they've been wrong. Some see it as a weakness, and have been taught to be "strong" at all costs. We can certainly see where that can get you.

If these people are diehard patriots, they've in crisis, alternating between "be strong/right" and the encroaching obvious...that BushCo are corporate raiders who are demolishing the country for their own gain and future profit/power structure. That what they've believed is simply gone, it doesn't exist anymore.

That must be very painful, and although I resent the destruction their actions can have (dredging the cross garden at Crawford), I understand their position. They need support to make the transition from what they understand as patriotic, to the difficult, always-changing ground of choice in the face of the enemies amongst us.

4. I agree..
... I could care less what a pack of morons with a collective IQ of 10 "thinks". Freepers operate totally from their limbic system, they do very little thinking.

7. Those who support our kids continuing to die in Iraq
were at home watching football this weekend. They have not time for such things are legitimate protest and in that closed silent corner of their mind they know they are wrong. The less publicity the better.

8. Best thing C-SPAN did was give them so much face time.
Totally exposed how little support this administration enjoys. I'll bet that's the last rally General Kristinn Taylor organizes. You'd have thought that the Washington DC Republicans would have made it a mandatory attendence to get some warm bodies out there. Talk about a 1-2 punch, that did nothing but reinforce how out of the mainstream FR/MVF really is.

9. Freeper Rally
I was almost ready to e-mail C-Span about that rally getting more coverage than yesterday's rally. Then, I realized something. Even though there were about 250,000 people at yesterday's rally, and many more around the world and the country, those people have very little political representation. Cynthia McKinney was the only Congress person I saw speak (I did hear that Dennis Kucinich showed up). By contrast, each attendee at the Freeper rally has at least one Senator or Representative that represents their views in Congress. The tragedy is that the people at the anti-war rally had minimal political representation. No march was shown at the Freeper rally. The speakers were boring.

12. Come on, jeez...where's your sense of humor?
I say this with all sincerity, ya gotta have some fun or you'll go nuts.

I started a thread that's likely one of the ones you are complaining about, making fun of the media coverage of their little exercise. I'm happy you took the time to read them and write about them. Pot, meet kettle.

When your team is way behind and they score, I get excited and have fun for a while.

The threads I've seen were making fun of the pro-war folks. What's wrong with that? Don't you ever get sick of being made fun of to the point that you lash back? I'm tired of being ridiculed.

Come on, have a laugh. :)

Thanks for reading those threads, by the way. I'm glad that you read them closely enough to want to start a NEW thread about them!
