Oh man... my kid ROCKS! *wipes tear*
My kids got home from school a bit ago, and I filled them in on why today has been excellent:

1. We close on our house on Friday, definitely (this has been the longest freaking experience of my life, you have no idea how happy this makes us)

2. Delay has been indicted and stepped down as majority leader (this is mostly just making me giddy, but the oldest (10) is a politico so it pleased him as well)

3. A live giant squid has finally been photographed (this was the big hit with them)

After looking at the pictures of the giant squid and hearing the other reasons today is wonderful, my 10 yr old turned to me with his huge braces smile and said, "This IS a great day! Great for our family, great for science AND great for America all at once!"

*swoon*

As a scientist, this makes me want to cry!

You have raised him well! And, BTW, best of luck with your closing.

15. He's a wanna-be scientist.
Even wrote a paper last year on the giant squid. We've had many a conversation about their elusiveness. :) He was thrilled!

that the words "squid" and "Delay" appeared in the same post. Hehehe!

Oh, happy day

25. I had three kids,
never had a problem with them turning 13. It is not inevitable that you have problems, but you must learn to negotiate. You must learn to respect them and you must also earn their respect. You must be a kind and compassionate POLICE OFFICER. ;-)

26. It's not a problem but they do have a change in attitude. They
become overconfident about their personal knowledge. I think it's universal.

29. Yup, they start to become independent,
just like we raised them to do, but there's no reason for a lot of conflict. I couldn't explain in detail how I raised my kids, but they always came to me for permission to do stuff, and they always wanted to talk about their lives. I'm sure they did some stuff I wouldn't have liked - don't we all? But there comes a point, if they're good kids, that you have to trust them. It ain't always easy.

35. Congrats on your new home and your terrific kid! When I told my hubby
tonight that I had good news, my youngest (17) said, "the DeLay indictment??"
She knows the score too!
And my hubby was just as happy as we were.
I wanna see all these corrupt filthy liars, killers and thieves in jail.
