Davis a victim of mid-term anti-incumbent blahs?
In 2001, when Ernie Eves was elected leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party, he had to run for a by-election so that he could take his place in the parliament as premier.

Eves and his advisors hand-picked the constituency of Duffrin-Peel-Wellington-Grey.

Eves only won 45% of the vote and only won the seat because of unusually strong Green and NDP support siphoning votes from the Liberals.

When the Eves government got decimated by the Dalton McGuinty-led Liberals in last week's eletion, Eves won his riding with nearly 60% support.
