Wanna see who supported Arnold?
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 07:55 AM by RatTerrier
His supporters are worse than Arnold himself!

(FYI: Georgy Russell was a fringe candidate for governor who is in her mid-20s. Has come out against the recall, and calling Schwarzenegger 'groper')

Gubernatorial Candidate Roughed up At Arnold Rally

Gubernatorial candidate Georgy Russell was pushed, shoved, hit and kicked yesterday by supporters of Arnold Schwarzenegger at a rally in Pleasanton CA. She was repeatedly called a "bitch" and one of the Arnold Supporters wrote on her clothing with a permanent marking pen. The felonious abusers, who claimed to be provoked by remarks from Russell, were near equal numbers of men and women and no one during the incident came to Russell's aid. Schwarzeneggar and his wife Maria Shriver witnessed the attack and neither said or did anything to stop the abuse.

Russell, while disgusted with the behavior, thinks Arnold and his supporters deserve each other. "Some of Arnold's supporters apparently do not hesitate when it comes to using violence to accomplish their goals. It's not surprising that they support and defend a candidate who has manifested poor judgment and aggressive behavior most of his adult life. The behavior exhibited by Arnold's supporters is not simply an aberration, it is an MO that has it's roots at the top; it is reminiscent of the behavior of the thugs that were bussed in by Republicans during the Florida recount to perform much the same role as the bullies of yesterday and while that is no surprise to me I am nonetheless sickened by it all. This bully mentality was exhibited by Arnold in the debate in his rude treatment of Arianna Huffington and that the press offered little to no criticism of his behavior opened the door wide and gave a green light to his supporters to follow suit."

5. Boycott Leno
If all the Clinton bashing, while being soft on Bush wasn't enough of a clue, or the Dennis Miller near weekly guest spots, this should be the clincher.

Letterman or Koppel will be my only two choices for late night entertainment/news. Do not support Leno. He does not support you. Of course the guy is against the car tax, he has about 80 cars.

9. Well, I Think We Got Letterman :) and The Other 'Conan'
Letterman seems pretty apolitical, but he gave Limbaugh a good jab when he asked him if he felt like he was just a "bag of hot gas" if memory serves. And the Bush is dumb, doesn't pay attention thread on his show is long-lived.

Interesting to note that in ratings, Leno is stronger in the red states and Letterman in the Blue ones.

As for Conan O'Brien --I guess you kind of have to watch his show.

Just seems like the funniest folks are on the Demos side mostly. For instance, Dennis Miller ain't nearly as funny as he used to be now that he's political. Will Durst, who has always been political and lefty is still funny.

Durst said of Arnold's marriage to Maria Shriver,

"I have no idea what that was about, unless it was a genetic experiment to breed a bullet-proof Kennedy."

12. I think Letterman doesn't suffer fools gladly
and we know in which party you'll find more of them. But I think he's careful not to let too much of his political thinking show to his audience. I grew up watching Letterman the Weatherman and think he's one of the few truly good-hearted, smart, and talented guys on TV these days.

I posted it on several threads and no one had a comment. I really just thougth it would be seen and not really commented on.

Again I apologize. You could alert the mods on your own thread or start it again with a new subject line.

10. this happened at the Supreme Court during the 2000 election
People were pushing and shoving me. This was my first demonstration and it was not pleasant. I hung in there and finally gave one women a hockey bump after repeatedly telling her to cut it out. She stopped shoving me. Another big guy was physically intimidating me and trying to push me out of camera sight. One lady was nice and we worked out where we were going to stand and wave our signs without getting in the way -- I did have a huge sign and that apparently annoyed people.

I did not have fun and have decided that was the last demonstration for me unless there was a large union presence that I can safely lurk in. I am not the street fighter type. I will organize at the local level and get out the vote.

I admired you guys from my comfy, warm Ohio couch during those awful days. I'm sorry that you had to put up with their thuggery, but it sounds as though you handled yourself admirably.

Those were such dark days, and I'm loathe to experience them again. It's as if the Repubs bus in their own hand-picked thugs from around the country for these demonstrations (it definitely sounds like they did in the post about Georgy's experiences above). It's disgusting, and I really, really admire you for toughing it out in support of democracy. :-)

Thank you!!
