Have US Presidents ever written their own speeches? You know,
before teleprompters what would this lying lunatic * have done? Were there always speech writers? Or did the great US Presidents write their own and then deliver them from their own heart and mind? Anyone know?

1. I thought he used an earpiece because he has trouble reading
His handlers feed him everything through that damn earpiece. Like he's some fricking trained dog (with my sincere apologies to dogs).

3. I don't know, but I do know that Clinton made lots of his own changes
to the speeches that others wrote.

Do you remember the story about the teleprompter quiting at the beginning of one of Clinton's speeches, and even the Press didn't know it until much later after the speech was done? I did the whole thing impromtu!

I'd give anything to see what Shrub would do in that situation!!!!!!

19. Little known fact: James Garfield was one of our most intelligent
Presidents. I don't know exactly how intelligent. We may never know. But he may have approached genius level.

21. Yeah, I've read amazing things about him.
He usually isn't on most lists because he served such a short time, but that's why I included him.

There was something about him beng able to write using both hands and in different languages.

23. Yeah, he could write a passage in Latin with one hand, and another
in Greek with the other hand simultaneously. He probably just did it as a stunt, but still, to be able to do it at ALL! :wow:

14. I found this link in a google search.
Speechwriters and their craft are actually a fairly new trend, and presidents up through Woodrow Wilson — a historian and a writer by trade who was in office from 1913 to 1921— basically wrote their own remarks. The first official speechwriter was "literary clerk" Judson Welliver (search), who began working under President Warren G. Harding in March of 1921.

"Presidents didn't give many speeches until the early 20th century," Ribuffo said. "Wilson could be his own speechwriter not only because he was a writer but because he didn't have to give any speeches. Now it would just be impossible."...

they ran too long.
