How big of an "all mercenary" army could they put together
if they came clean about this Iraq war, cut out the patriotism shit, and offered to pay anybody who would go over there to protect the oil fields
and generally kick Iraqi ass $200K a year tax free?

1. i think that they use a sliding-scale...
depending on which country you come from. Just as our jobs are going over seas, mercenary teams can be had much cheaper from Hondoras, Guatemala, etc.,
With respect to the wage, the manager of the company Your Solutions, Youngest child Channels, explained that there are some guards who speak English, reason why its wage can oscillate between 1.300 and 1.600 dollars to the month Forzosamente we must send at least one bilingual person by each group of ten that we send to Irak, extended Channels.http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.elheraldo.hn/detalle.php%3Fnid%3D35725%26sec%3D12%26fecha%3D2005-08-12&prev=/search%3Fq%3DBenjamin%2BCanales%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26c2coff%3D1

2. It ain't that simple.
Who brings the supplies to the 200K mercs? Who guards the supply depots? Who guards the roads that the supplies move on? Who guards the airports that the supplies arrive at? Who keeps tabs on every insurgent town and village looking for signs of activity and who forms up for the attacks to keep the insurgents off balance? 'Who' is the understaffed regular army, reserves, and guards doing all that right now.

4. Just a strange thought, but...
couldn't you to some degree call our existing millitary all Mercinary? I mean sure they are now locked in to a contract but they volentered to lock into the contract for money etc. Its not the same as a draft army.

3. $200K?
You wouldn't even need to pay that much to get US volenteers never mind third world mercs. Try a few dolars a day.

Then of course there is equipment.

but its all a mute point anyway so why speculate?

5. They say everyone has a price.
Even me. I would go with the right contract. $5,000 a day (every day whether I'm working or not) for 365 days. Full armor and weapons and I would never travel with less than 50 people equally equipped. After my year I leave for good with no responsibility to return.

I want that loot tax free too.
