Can you imagine the conversation?

interested in this lifetime.

I hope he understands the concept of Karma.

38. With his legs crossed away
from him.. arms close... he completely defensive and disinterested in hearing what the Dali Lama as to say.

Though I am not shocked, chimp is the worse diplomat to ever have been appointed to office. He's undone years and years of diplomacy and reputation in his short stint in the WH.

Disgraceful, embarrassment, crass, and vulgar are words that come to mind. Not to mention, a few other choice words I'll hold my tongue on.

5. Talk about your saint and sinner
One devoted to peace and love, the other to blood and oil.

One who follows a religion based on reason and compassion, and one who exploits religion to comopensate for his lack of understanding.

If God talks to Bush, Bush ain't listening.

36. This statement can only be taken as the two being the same:
"Two theocrats meeting - one in power, one not." The only difference is that one is in "power" and one isn't. By saying, "Here are two theocrats" you are saying that they are the same; you may not have meant this, but it is what you wrote...

Show me proof where the Dali Lama is getting assistance by Bush-Mobsters for re-installing his "theocracies" Because wanting the right to maintain who you appoint to be a spiritual leader is such a horrible crime against humanity.

40. Your suggestion is well taken, but allow me to clarify
I would never do anything to harm any elected official...however I am 100% in favor of having Congress and/or the world court determine if crimes have been committed against humanity, and if so, seeing that justice is carried out in a fair and proper manner.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

Nonetheless, one can see some whacko fundamentalist running with this photo as evidence that Bush is "wearing the Devil's clothes" or some such idiotic nonsense.

Anybody here know what the evangelical doctrine is about these things?

Is Shrub going to burn in Hell because Karl isn't around to keep him from public Sin? :grr: :dilemma:

49. No... it's like an "of course" ... or "no big deal"
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 12:08 PM by TahitiNut
While I do not regard myself as "belonging" to any specific religion, I've adopted some buddhist beliefs and practices, and 'inform' myself with some tracts and teachings. I've spent time with folks, some practicing buddhists, where giving a khata is rather common in greeting a guest, welcoming a visitor, or merely acknowledging some 'special' occasion for someone. It's not "prayer" but meditation ... a "be here now" consciousness that's signified.

I thought it was rather well-known that the Dalai Lama gives people khatas (and receives them in turn) rather frequently. While certainly more meaningful than a handshake, there's a humility even in venerations. It'd be unseemly to take a 'big deal' attitude even if overwhelmed by tears.

Hard to explain.

I'd get a HUGE kick out of meeting him and hanging out. He's the kind of person I'd like to have a couple of beers with ... certainly not Junior. It's always rather amsuing to me that question/observation is so often applied to Junior* who's the LEAST desirable for such companionship ... when that's EXACTLY the way I regard the Dalai Lama.

It should serve as a reminder that we're all one in the universe, each sharing custody of a common consciousness.
