Bush Claim: Early Iraq withdrawal would lead to "a safe haven for terror."
Is this the only reason we have troops in Iraq now, after the "mission" was "accomplished" in May 2003? So what needs to be done to accomplish this post-mission? Does Congress know that this is the post-mission?

"An immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq will only strengthen the terrorists' hand in Iraq and in the broader war on terror," Mr Bush said.

The president said the Sunni-dominated insurgency's goal was to "break our will" so that an early withdrawal would lead to "a safe haven for terror."

Leaving Iraq prematurely, he said, is "not going to happen, so long as I'm the president".

13. Do they really think that the majority of Americans fall for this?
"An immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq will only strengthen the terrorists' hand in Iraq and in the broader war on terror."

We are now the enemy, we get the hell out, that should appease the terrorists, no?

I understand this idiot and his cabinet of liars are trying to 1) justify their war and 2) trying to scare the crap out of those who are scared by this sort of fear mongering. That said, their logic? makes no sense and anyone with half a brain should be able to see through this argument. It's so transparent. It's fear mongering pure and simple. It's driving me crazy that any American would fall for this! :banghead:

"not going to happen, so long as I'm the president". Tough guy, eh George? I can't type what I really think of him! :grr:

14. Man's an idiot..........
The US invasion is what made Iraq safe for terrorists, by taking away what the Iraqis had.....bombing schools and clinics, killing and torturing civilians.
