Bush Drinks Mare's Milk, Avoids Camels

U.S. President George W. Bush, right, approaches a Yak, as he walks with Mongolia's President...

ULAN BATOR, Mongolia - The scene was straight out of a Genghis Khan movie. There were Mongol warriors clad in armor and helmets, armed with swords and mounted on the short, stout horses unique to Mongolia. The warriors hoisted colorful battle flags on spears.

Dancers in colorful costumes and elaborate masks that resembled the heads of animals performed traditional routines. Others banged on gongs or played horns.

Cows, camels and grunting yaks roamed nearby.

President Bush, his wife, Laura, and Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice waded into the scene Monday, a settlement of tentlike "gers" set up for the occasion in chilly weather just outside the capital city.

12. That's a good point, seriously
fermented mare's milk, or kipish (I KNOW I spelled that wrong), packs quite the kick, according to a fellow I worked with who had a research project in Mongolia. Part of his duties was to go and negotiate for fresh goats for the crew's diet with the local nomads, and that involved drinking the mare's milk. He said by noon he was useless for the rest of the day.

This is probably the first official news story to document Bush going off the wagon, and the thing is, they probably aren't aware that's what they did!

9. Does anyone besides me think it strange that Condi always
travels with Junior. I don't recall M. Albright and Clinton always traveling together to other countries. Albright was always busy doing her job and Clinton certainly did not need her help every moment of the day. Also, Clinton was potty trained.
