Did anyone else hear Russert on Imus this morning?
I had to pinch myself. I thought I had overslept and was dreaming.

Russert said the Niger uranium lie is a very serious matter, 188 members of the House cited the threat of nuclear war in approving the resoultion to go to war. Russert hammered the point that you can't send Americans to war on false information and someone in the administration had to pay.

He pointed out how odd it was that the President has not yet called his staff to the carpet on this lie, clearly implying that the reason may be that Bush was complicit in it.

Russert also went through an article from Tuesday and pointed out inconsistency after inconsistency in the statements made by Bush administration officals.

It should be an interesting lead-up to Sunday morning. Pass the popcorn!

1. I'm impressed.
Thanks for reporting this. I never would have guessed Russert would say such a thing.

4. He realizes Bush is going down over this...
and doesn't want to go down with him. Russert serves himself first of all.

5. That was my impression also.

If Bush is going down Russert can't be on the sidelines and irrelevant. In order for Russert to be the kingpin of Sunday morning he has to participate in the slaughter that is coming.

I hope I am not being too optimistic. Today will be telling as we see how the press accepts the so-called "offensive" that is coming.

3. I taped all of Russert, some of David Gregory, and all of Barnicle
I think

will put up highlights as time permits.

Barnicle and Imus were just WETTING themselves as they fawned over brave, honest George!
but they both agreed that Cheney and Rumsfeld were HUGE liars!!!!

amazing.

8. Russert has been told that Bush must go.
Edited on Thu Jul-17-03 09:24 AM by RegenerationMan
By the powers that be, the Board of Directors and the Saudis. Add to Russert these other turnaround specialists:

Imus
Nora O'Donnell
Chris Matthews
Chuck Hagel
WHO ELSE?

They will all support the new Repuke President, however: Colin Powell.
Don't get happy yet. Instead of a devastated Bush, the Ds will be running against Powell. This will not be easy, as Powell will take the black vote.

IMAGINE PRESIDENT KERRY!

9. Powell as President,
I've seen that around here a lot the past day or so.

It does make sense as he is the only one who did not publicly use the Niger info. Do you really think that they planned that far ahead to get Bush? At that time Bush was doing exactly what the powers that be wanted. Possibly it is just luck that the facts unfolded the way they did, but it has worked out well for Powell.

It is easy to project a series of events where Powell becomes Pres. Cheney resigns, Powell is appointed VP, Bush resigns or is forced out, not hard to imagine at all.
