Due to Snow, I Will Probably Get Stuck at Work Today
Because my boss is such a tight-ass.

Don't want to send the wrong message by telling folks not to come in or anything like that, ya know.

1. Bummer
Are you online at work? If so, and if you are indeed stuck, come here and complain to us about it, and then go play some online games.

2. That sucks.
Unless you work in like a snow plow business, in which case I can sort of see his point. But if you worked at a snow plow business, you wouldn't get stuck at work, would you. SO he's probably a jerk.

5. No sympathy from me.
If businesses shut down for snow where I live, we would be shut down for five months of the year.

7. Driving in a city with tons of traffic during a storm
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 09:33 AM by stepnw1f
or driving for an hour one way out of the city, and then driving back into a city during a storm is not fun at all. Good thing I'm a good driver though.

Where do you work?

26. I am a seasonal worker now, just work in the summer months.
But for 30 years I had a year round 25 mile one way drive in the northern foot hills of the Adirondack mountains.

I miss it. Remember missing something is not always a bad thing. I can sure sympathize with anyone having to drive in snowy weather. I enjoy having winters off now. Staying home, putting wood in the furnace, and watching the river and snow and relaxing.

12. different perspective. i was manager of dry cleaners
we had a huge ass snow right before thanksgiving. we didnt shut down, but businesses all over did. i have customers coming in, on their knees thanking me for being opened so they could get thanksgiving outfits they had in cleaners. i had regular customers calling me, saying they NEEDED these clothes or their holidays would be RUINED..... but they were stuck. delivered these people their stuff. and was happy to do it. and we all had a blast taking care of one another

think there might be a different attitude to be had?

13. I love this story. . .
I used to own a small retail store. When it snowed I had no customers so I had to pay the help AND lose money. For my employees it was braving the storm, for me it was braving the storm and losing money. Sucked. Not all business owners make millions of dollars...hence, I'm a FORMER small business owner.

small is being bashed, cause corp gets free ride. people at our income is being bashed by govt, cause the rich dont have to pay in

20. We have a small home-based biz now too. Have yet to do up the
business taxes. I am really nervous about that, but hubby says since we're barely scarping by they can't ask for too much and what they do take will come back to us in the personal taxes refund. I hope!

22. fingers crossed with you. i hear you. three years we had failing
ok not failing, but just surviving and cause we made no profit, we didnt have to pay. tell you what, huge reward there for success. it is all ok. these things like taxes and insurance, oh,..... i just cant look. i try not to look. just try to save the money to pay and then let it go. it is scary for a couple years. i watched the owner of company prior to us take it to a 800k loss, and selling home and all the mess, and still owing. just never dig, lol lol if i pull out a shovel to start digging that whole, i want out.

25. Oh Man! No we're ok because we're struggling just enough to
qualify for MedicAid but not struggling so badly that we are in danger of going completely under. It's a new business (6 months under his belt so far) so we know we should give it some more time to grow. My friend who has an MBA says that 2 years is the minimum before you can really consider a business off the ground and established.

We're a little behind on getting new tires for the truck, so it's not like the 4wd is going to help me much now.

Just be carefull driving out there, it's wicked slick!
