Hey, WTF? Gasoline prices jumped $0.10 per Gallon in a week here!
They had been going down for about 2 months from a high here of over $5.00 per Gallon.

(O.K., $3.00 per Gallon where I live, but some stations in Atlanta got over $5.00, until Governor "Sonny" pushed through an anti-gouging law)

How much does Gasoline cost in your area now?

Here in the Atlanta Metro, it just jumped from $1.88 per Gallon to $1.97 per Gallon in about a week. :wtf:

3. Believe me, I do, but I'm wondering why it's changed direction...
...all of a sudden.

It must have been all those lies they started saying last month, that Gas was below "Pre-Katrina levels."

For the record, Pre-Katrina level was $1.79, so mark that down as another lie.

2. Weren't we getting gas from europe?
I seem to remember reading that they were sending us fuel from their strategic reserves. Did that end and maybe that is why it is going up?

23. Correct - we were getting a shitload of refined imports
Given our busted-up refineries, we couldn't just import more crude. Now that Europe has drawn down a substantial part of their stocks, this wave of imports (which was the highest ever recorded during the fall) is drying up.

20. You must not of been following the news, right after Katrina...
...some of the stations (northern Atlanta I think) went over $5.00 per Gallon, even Reuters had a picture of the signs, but regular unleaded peaked at about $3.00 here in SW Cobb. It's just under $2.00 per Gallon now.

21. Went from 2.24 to 2.40 here in a wk. They're raising them artificially so
they can have them up there high enough in order to lower them just as artificially in time for the elections next year. The higher they can get them, the lower they can drop them.....and the more appreciative the imbeciles will be when prices are dropped again when voting season comes around.

27. "cornermouse" and "hatrack" said (above) that the Gasoline imports...
... from Europe ended about a week or two ago.

I heard "the experts" talking on Public Radio's "MarketPlace" a few weeks ago, they said they expected gas prices to jump at least 30 Cents per gallon when the imports ended.

Bummer. :evilfrown:

29. I paid $2.09 yesterday.
My opinion FWIW is that it's because of the cold weather we've had here in OK the past couple of weeks. My experience is that people tend to stock up on things (groceries, gas, whatever) whenever cold weather hits suddenly, as it did last week. Maybe it's a reptilian brain thing, or maybe people just don't want to take a chance of having to get back out in the cold. Anyway, it's another opportunity for oil and gas companies to gouge us.
