Iraqis Voting for a Parliament; An Islamist-Secular Split Is Seen
By DEXTER FILKINS 1:12 AM ET

Kind of stange in that an Islamist (Fundy)- Secular (DU) Split is exactly what we are experiencing in this country. More than anything else, we as a nation are split between the RW Religious Zealots and the Left side Progressives. It seems to be the same in Iraq and I'd even venture Iran. Religion vs. Progress.

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
The more things change, the more they remain the same.

I am somewhat befuddled by my own revalation.

3. This is beyond W.
This goes beyond this time in history, this time in space. Inquisition, Crusades, Reformation, on and on. Galileo, perhaps this is a condition of the human race. Like diabetes for the person, it will never be cured, but must be managed. Sometimes you'll lose a limb, but you'll still have diabetes.

2. not Religion vs Progress, but Use of Anything for Distraction vs Progress
Religion unfortunately is used by people who want to distract us. But religion is not in itself a distraction. Just as a glass of wine with dinner is grand while being drunk in the streets is disorienting.

4. already a split between the Saladin's and the Islamists and the Brotherhood
there are so many factions after killing 250,000 civilians in Iraq now it will never be settled..

the only thing we can do is become energy independent and leave them to themselves to annihilate each other.. there is no hope they will ever figure out what reason or compromise is..

5. Fundamentalism (no matter the sect) has been on the rise globally....
Since the late 70's.

Christian or Islamic, is there really any difference?

Always remember, before Islam, Arabs where at the forefront of math and science. Now the fundie Christians are holding back the US in much the same way. I am most certain that Biotech is going to be the new "new economy", and look how far those bastards have us behind!
