Boynton Little League may get extreme help
This is a great story. I know a lot of people have gotten sick of Extreme Makeover lately, but here is a good reason to watch it again.

BOYNTON BEACH — Producers from the hit ABC television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition visited Boynton Beach Wednesday morning to tour Little League Park, the hurricane-ravaged home of the 2003 Little League National Champions.

Hurricane Wilma left the park on Woolbright Road in shambles, with slumping chain-link fences, downed concrete light poles, mangled batting cages and flipped metal bleachers. Costs to repair the park top $800,000.

Shana Kemp, segment producer for Extreme Makeover, said Wednesday's visit was to videotape the damage, interview residents and create a package to show ABC officials, who will choose which stories will air on a special episode on hurricane damage in Florida. If Little League Park is chosen, taping of the free rebuilding could begin in late January.

Without the help of ABC, the spring Little League season would likely be canceled or curtailed.

Ricky Sabatino, 13, an infielder on the 2003 championship team, said he wanted to get back on the field.

"It's no fun out here," Sabatino said. "This is like my favorite spot to hang out and play some baseball. I'm bored."

1. If he's so bored...

I can recommend some good reading for him, or a neighborhood or two to the west that could use some serious cleaning and resources. $800,000 for a damned baseball field when New Orleans is rotting? I'm sure his parents are proud of the priorities they have instilled in this kid.

2. Ummm . . . We were hit by a hurricane, too
This field was damaged due to Hurricane Wilma. I think this is a great start to help rebuild our community, too

3. I am aware of the hurricane that hot your area...
however, if a baseball field if the greatest worry, then I guess it couldn't hav been all that bad. Not like living for two weeks in an enclosed sewer.
