Polls mean so little at this point in the election process they're not worth nothing. Forget polls. Focusing on the work ahead should be our goal.

2. Easy to do in an ideal world.
Down here in Realityland, however, people allow their opinions to be shaped by these stupid polls. That makes them relevant.

MSRNC was floating the idea that W's slide in job approval had been effectively reversed just a week ago - the evidence cited was that Gallup poll. I remember seeing Tweety devote an entire show to that very subject.

You might not believe the Gallup poll, and neither do I, but there are a lot of yokels who do, 'because it was on TV.'

That's make it relevant to them. While making note of it, it's not something we need to be banking our hopes in, I'm sure we can agree.

These polls drive the news for any given day. When Gallup put out there poll it was shown on every network as if it was legitimat. Even after all these new polls have been put out, they are still running with the Gallup poll results.
