This is one surreal photo here

An U.S. soldier from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Regiment, of the 4th Infantry Division patrols the streets of Tikrit, Iraq (news - web sites), north of Baghdad, Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003. An Iraqi women sweeps street near her house in the background. (AP Photo Efrem Lukatsky)

1. I guess you can get used to anything. Life goes on.
Is odd.

2. It's because the soldier is just posing...
There is no real danger there...

3. I guess you're right...
since if there was danger there, the photographer would be in a -really- bad spot.

Notice the photo; our soldier is in camo gear as if he's in a jungle somewhere. Also, I'm assuming that the funny looking seaweed on his helmet is supposed to be "camouflage".

Couldn't Rumsfeld get it right, for once? Iraq is a desert, with pale yellow to whitish colors. Instead, the troops wear camo green.

Take a look also at his face. Notice the tired, 2-mile stare. Right as this photo was taken, he was thinking, "God if I could only be home right now, with my wife and 2 cute little girls. They can be such pests, but man do I miss them right now. And what I wouldn't give for a Burger King Whopper right now".

He doesn't want to be there. He's not sure why he's there. Neither does the woman behind him.
