Will Anshell play a decisive role in the election?
Anshell is going to launch in another month or two, right in time for the primaries. I'm wondering if Anshell will be strong enough a radio presence to not only serve as a way of getting liberals together, but to provide a medium of rapid response. Ditto-heads claim that Limbaugh played a decisive role in the 1994 elections, so why can't Anshell?

1. At the rate they are progressing, they will be ready for
the post mortem on the November election..

It takes TIME to get the important issues out there for the public. There is a learning curve.. If they are on the air by March, it will be summer before people even know they are on the air..

This should have been in the works on Dec 13, 2000.. There should have been programs ON THE AIR for the last 3 years.. Instead of tucking our tails between our legs and begging for scraps of time on rightwing radio, we should have been going at them head to head for the last 3 years.. There is no lack of money on our side.. Apparently our rich are more cautious.. That hurts as much as if we had NO wealthy supporters..

2. I read somewhere this week
that Anshell sold out to a consortium consisting of some hard-line Dems and an ex-AOL exec, who were planning to put together a centrist, yet somewhat liberal network. Likely meaning Alan Colmes-type radio.

Is this true?

4. Yes, it is now called Central Air...and now, they're saying it will be up
in MARCH!

They are supposedly buying 5 radio stations, but they are mostly East and West Coast, so who knows what impact they will have. Middle America will still be a vast wasteland...except for the internet streaming, if they have it.

Without Malloy, I won't really care that much what they do....

5. Ick
If they really want to succeed, they need to get some emotion in there. But everyone's too scared.

Well, Oxymoron Rush didn't think this way back in the 80s, when few were cool to his style of radio. Now, everyone thinks inside the box and imitates him. Meaning one bad radio show and many even worse clones.

How about an angry liberal for a change? Time to create a new niche, and let everyone else copy that.

Think people, think!

3. We have to plan on getting out our message without a new network.
We have to plan on getting out our message without a new radio network.

If the new radio network materializes, great, but first it was supposed to be on in January and now they're saying February, so who knows.

Things we can do include:

1) Giving to the
http://www.moveonvoterfund.org/

and/or spreading that link around the web.

2) Giving directly to campaigns BEFORE the convention (public financing takes effect after the convention.)

3) Distributing campaign literature.
