OMG, are Americans really this pathetically uninformed?
From: http://pollingreport.com/iraq.htm

"From what you've seen or heard in the news, do you believe that Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq was harboring al Qaeda terrorists and helping them to develop chemical weapons, or not?"

7/24 - 7/25/03

72% - Yes
17% - No
11% - Don't Know

Now from this same poll --

"From what you know now, do think the United States did the right thing in taking military action against Iraq last March, or not?"

7/24 - 7/25/03

68% - Right
28% - Not Right
4% - Don't Know

OK, so this means that at least 4% of the people polled think that "Saddam Hussein's regime was harboring al Qaeda terrorists and helping them to develop chemical weapons" but still do NOT support the invasion!

I wonder what would happen to these numbers if someone -- anyone -- started and just kept on telling the truth about the lies used to sell this war to the American public.

Don't you?

2. Worse than that.
Polls such as these are commonly used as evdince in and of itself. When W was asked for proof of WMD, he tipicaly points to polls, as if to say "they all can't be wrong,"

8. the average american trusts their gov't AND the media
and they've been resoundingly lied to by both.

the average american has a lot of reasons to be really fucking pissed off.

the average american is a victim of the new "opiate of the masses" -- corporate television.

9. wow, look at all the polls, it's depressing as hell
it's like nobody wants to believe the truth. We've had weeks now where the media has finally started to chip away at the iceberg, proof that Bushco lied, daily reports that the situation in Iraq is downright horrible, and yet the numbers have barely moved.

Good God, people have their heads so deeply in the sand .....

And if your head is in the sand, your ass is in the air ...

And you've got nobody to blame but yourself.

Time to leave this stupid fucking country.

12. Very interesting
I don't have cable at my house. I rented a place for vacation this last week that has cable and I've seen a fair amount if cable news, CNN, MSNBC, and FOX.

I now realize how easy it is to fabricate an alternate reality....if I was exposed to this BS all the time, I could start believing this is the way things really are....very scary indeed.

13. This quote says it all ...............
"The average man follows not reason but faith and this naive faith requires necessary illusions, and emotionally potent oversimplification by the myth maker to keep him on course." (Chomsky quoting Reinhold Niebuhr)

I have learned that this is our countries sociological nature. We hold the burden of exericing our minds to be informed, and they hold the luxury of apathy and being told what to think from the comfort of their lazy boy mind.

14. ...
That poll, I have to believe, is wrong. That's out of step with every poll I've seen recently.
