union supporting Gephardt wants their money refunded from Dean/Osama ad
One of the unions, the International Association of Machinists, called Tuesday for the group, Americans for Jobs, Healthcare and Progressive Values, to pull the ad and release the names of its financial backers. Other labor unions that gave money to the group include the Laborers International Union of North America and the Ironworkers Union, both of which have endorsed Gephardt for president.

"The ads are despicable and we ought to ask for the refund," said Rick Sloan, a spokesman for the International Association of Machinists. "They've done more to damage Dick Gephardt than anything any of his opponents could have done or dreamed of doing."

1. THis is a dupe and the actual title IS
Unions that endorsed Gephardt donated to group airing anti-Dean ads

While I think it does implicate Gephardt a bit more than not, your titles makes it appear as though they want HIM to refund their money.

Did you create that appearance by accident?

2. the focus of this thread is different than the other one
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 09:39 PM by pruner
apparently not all the unions that have donated to this group are happy with the way their money is being spent.

6. I'm glad one of the unions showed some backbone
I wonder if the Dean campaign can persuade that union to switch their endorsement from Geppy to Dean?

9. Just curious...question
Aside from and before the aweful ad came out,

What is it that people DO NOT like about Gephardt?
I need to understand it so I don't make a mistake. Please be thorough if you respond.

Thanks,

12. My MAIN issue with Gephard was his undermining his own party
when Biden- Lugar was being hammered out by appearing with Joe Lieberman and Evan Bayh in the White House rose garden with Bush advocating unilateral war. The next day, Biden-Lugar was tabled. I don't hold the IWR vote against others but I DO hold it against Liberman and Gephardt. Not only did it undermine their party, it certainly didn't seem to make too much of a difference in the mid term elections. Using their carefully laid out DLC hawkish strategy, we lost Senate seats anyway.

15. The question is
what's to like if you don't know much about him and all he does is attack his opponent?

16. The only thing that made me
interested in him was when he came out against the bush tax cuts, that and his "alleged" stance on NAFTA. I am opposed to nafta and all the rest. I want the working class citizens to benefit in this society, likewise the underclass (which leads me to kucinich). I want universal health care, housing, manufacturing jobs, etc.
These are the things he spoke of in his campaign. Of course, it could all be bullsh*t but that's why I'm asking. What else is there to be cautious about with gep?
At this point, I'll vote for anyone that can win.
Can't learn if I don't ask.
Thanks....

11. I'm clear of that and what is so different about the point of this thread?
That point was made in the other thread.

7. You're exactly right zidzi....
there are too many people on the internet with the skills and resources to not let this kind of thing fly.
This campaign will be waged with "MOUSE PADS, shoe leather and hope".

10. If this hits the mainstream press
Dean might not have to do a rebuttal ad.

13. The Dean team is on the case...
...rebuttal ads to anonymous attack ads aren't necessary, just the truth and hope...
