1. The Reagan administration took Iraq
off the list of terrorist nations so that we could aid them in the war against Iran. This thread from earlier today was very informative about a lot of that. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=918621

2. I heard
that Gore sponsered the bill that would have sanctioned Iraq. I think I heard it on NPR.

3. Don't know about that.
I don't think any of that info specifically addresses sanctions. I don't even remember any talk about Iraq being under sanctions in the '80's. Of course, I was in high school.

It was called an anti-genocide bill and the Repuke bastard vetoed it.

He was such a bastard.

Here is a link for more info. Its on the Kurds in Iraq and the mention is about 1/2 way down the text.

6. Wow!
I never knew about that one. I was doing some googling earlier to see what I could find about any sanctions against Iraq in the '80's. There's a lot of dirt out there on the Reagan administration and their dealings with Iran-Contra, Afghanistan, the Mujahideen, Osama, etc. They're finally tying it all together and realizing that Reagan was the beginning of the fucked-up mess we're in now. Too bad we can't try that old fool at the Hague!

5. Sure enough
I was there protesting it. I have been able to protest the arming of Saddam, then 20 years later the forceful disarming of Saddam. Republicans are just precious aren't they?
