Call WVCB (Boston-5) TV; protest "Democrat candidate" *NOW*
Natalie Jacobson, the long-time newsreader on Boston's
WCVB TV-5 just read a story where she talked about the
"Democrat Candidate" John Edwards and the "Democrat
National Convention".

I called and spoke to the Executive Producer and she
emphatically stated that the script read "DemocratIC"
in both cases; I conclude from this that Jacobson was
freelancing to do her part for the "liberal media".

Call WCVB and complain.

I think the newsroom phone number is 781-433-4563 but
781-449-0400 will route you through to a security guard if
you let it ring; he'll route you through to the newsroom.

1. I'm not sure I understand
where is the slight in saying "democrat" vs "democratic"?

4. The adjectival form of "Democrat" is "Democratic"
The adjectival form of "Democrat" is "Democratic" but the
Republics won't say that because they're trying to avoid
calling us little-d "democratic" (because they're not).

It's standard Republic usage and when supposedly-neutral news
anchors start using it, it's just more evidence of how far the
media has fallen.

12. I don't think that
it was anything sinister. You should lighten up.

That anchor I believe is a veteran who wouldn't have been around for so long if the Massachusetts audience didn't like her. I belive she's Chet Curtis's ex-wife.

So reason to believe she's a Bushie

5. Apparently there actually is an organized RW push
to establish the usage of "Democrat" vs "Democratic", and I see it turn up quite a bit. It seems to now be in the "style book" at FauxNews, and Bug Boy Delay uses it constantly.

I do not know if an RNC floppy with PowerPoint instructions has been found, but other DU'ers may know.

When are we going to start refering to "them" as republics. "The republic president," the "republic candidate," "republic pollster," etc.

9. I am a Democrat.
Because of that, I belong to the DemocratIC party. It's simply a matter of grammar and they are trying to push bad grammar because Democratic and democratic have two different meanings. They don't want the little democratic to be equated with the big Democratic.

10. NO NO NO...we have to change the debate in this country
Call them and tell them you think that might be partially offensive to some Democrats. Please! Don't yell, though. Be polite. If they refuse to do anything about their error, thank them for their time and politely end the call.

See how easy that is?!?! :nuke:

11. it has been YEARS
since a repuke was allowed to say "democratic"

YEARS

it is the same language control we're seeing now regarding wmd PROGRAMS.

you will NEVER hear a repuke refer to WDM without the PROGRAMS tag. NEVER.

16. Some Repugs Say Democratic
I listened to Sean Hannity's radio show on the way home tonight. He said democratic three or four times as in Democratic Party. Apparently, he didn't get the memo. (I listend to conservative talk radio when driving to hear what the dark side is saying - it is very effective when talking with people as set the record straight and explain how the facts were twisted.

I called the newsroom and was also told that Nat misspoke. I "politely" expressed my reason for calling and concern about the use of the word "democrat" as in democrat party. The person repeated again that it was a mistake.

The website for the newschannel says democratic party.

18. Mis-spoke my ass.
It's a lot harder to say "Democrat (full stop) Candidate" than
"Democraticandidate"; Natilie knew exactly what she was saying
when she said it.

My eyebrows went up at this first mention and I was paying full
attention when she got around to "mis-speaking" "Democrat National
Convention".

Don't let the media get away with this sort of shit.
