A really spicy pepper can stay there for days. God forbid you wipe your eyes with pepper juice on your hands.

29. Not quite true
Any sufficiently high concentration of orange peel oil will melt it right off.

Now, whether you want to melt it off and expose the perhaps burnt flesh beneath is another question.

47. Road Tar will come off with Wesson Oil. I went to U.C. Santa Barbara
and there is a natural oil seep off coal oil point and if you get that stuff on you when walking on the beach it is worse that road tar. Several older students told me to use wesson oil and it worked like a charm.

23. Ink!
I use to do industrial clean up in plants after accidents, nothing super toxic though. Once at the Hartford Courant, in CT, one of the printing presses ink line exploded and we had to go in to clean up a huge puddle of ink. I had ink on various parts of my body for weeks. We even had suits and gloves, but ink can penetrate anything it seems.

28. HF, hydrofluoric acid
Edited on Wed Apr-21-04 11:43 AM by kodi
its so bad that you can't neutralize it by pouring a strong base on top of it if it has touched the skin. you have to inject the base in front of the boundary of the HF as it eats thru the skin to attempt to neutralize it.

it will eat right to the bone, then dissolve the bone.

48. yes, terrible stuff, especially when concentrated...
When I was first studying organic chemistry, I used to get tutoring from a very bright grad student who worked in medicinal chemistry. She used some of the worst stuff you can imagine--things no undergrad would ever have access to, including an acid cocktail that was supercharged with a component of rocket fuel!

Yet she said the only thing she was really afraid of was HF. So nasty that it eats glass!

35. Easter egg dye
The stuff I bought this year at Kroger must have come from a waste dump. Not only could I not get the dye off, it left a very sticky residue. For an entire day, everything I touched stuck to my fingers. I tried everything I could find in the house to get it off, and nothing worked. I had to wait until that layer of skin wore off on its own before my hands looked normal again.
