Arrgghh, Matey!! 'Pirates' Gets 6 MTV Movie Award Nods

LOS ANGELES - There's no aarrgg-uing: "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" collected a leading six nominations for the MTV Movie Awards on Wednesday, including best movie and best on-screen team for co-stars Johnny Depp (news) and Orlando Bloom (news).

Depp also was chosen for best male performance and comedic performance, while Geoffrey Rush (news)'s performance as a skeletal buccaneer earned him a mention for best villain. Keira Knightley (news), the seafaring movie's damsel in distress, was recognized among the breakthrough female nominees.

who doesn't like that movie. I thought it was Cutthroat Island with better acting and better production values. And I dearly love Johnny Depp...I just thought Pirates was dorky.

15. I may have been influenced by a few things,

such as that I'd recently been to see several absorbing, interesting, ADULT movies, and also that my teenage stepsons became instant fanatics for that movie (they think it is THE MOST AWESOME MOVIE EVER, DUDE, LIKE, EVER!). I was in kind of a foul mood when I saw it, and by about hour 12 of the fight with the undead pirates, I'm sitting there tapping my fingers wondering if that scene is ever going to fucking end.

It's cute, but it's so damn DUMB! Maybe you have to be in the right mood for it, and I surely wasn't. Too predictable, too cutesy.

10. Hell Yeah, baby!!

I love Pirates more than any other movie from last year.

I saw it 6 times in the theatre and I've watched the DVD I don't know how many times now. It's just as fun the 100th time as the first time. :D

You might find this rediculous but I've met people who've changed their lives around just because of watching Johnny in Pirates. It truely is inspirational.

Then there's The Pirate of the Carribean Interractive Project. They started in FL and are doing a kind of Rocky Horror audience participation with the movie. :D http://www.potcinteractive.com/home.html
