Yes he sure is, among others. You have probably heard of seed savers. Well I am a member of the "Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities". If it is left up to the poultry industry all our chickens will be white . That why it is imperative to save our old now rare breeds of farm animals.

Spike is an Silver Laced Polish. Although the Polish is so old a breed , that their history has been obscured, they were known as a pure breed as early as the sixteenth century. Charles Darwin classifies all the races of fowl with top-knots as "Crested or Polish" but does not give any data regarding their origin. You can see them in some of the old masters paintings, and especially those by Dutch and Flemish painters.
