Happy birthday to DICK DALE!!!
Edited on Tue May-04-04 07:30 PM by NightTrain
The King of the Surf Guitar was born in Quincy, MA, on May 4, 1937, and relocated with his parents to Los Angeles County in 1954. His immortal discography includes "Let's Go Trippin'," "Surf Beat," "Taco Wagon," "Shake 'n' Stomp," "The Wedge," "Night Rider," "Mr. Eliminator," and his .357 magnum opus, "Miserlou," not to mention three CDs of brand new material he released in the '90s.

Happy 67th, Dickster!!! :toast::party::yourock::headbang:

1. Of course, NOW he calls himself the "father of heavy metal"
and disdains the whole instrumental-surf scene.

4. "Pipeline!"
Second best version of that song I've ever heard. The first, of course, is the Chantays' original. :headbang:

6. I did a phone interview with him in the fall of '97.
We talked for almost two hours; or should I say, *he* did? I barely got word in edgewise! The man was interesting to listen to, though.
