like my wife does? she's a hardcore enviromentalist and refuses to use bizarre machinery to wash our clothes. plus, there is a huge savings on soap, bleach, fabric softener, not to mention the electricity wasted on ironing and drying with heated gas, all of which are bad for mother earth.

is she getting a little carried away with this?

are bad for the environment. Pesticides used on the cotton, chemical factories to make the dyes or artificial fibers. Diesel fumes from the trucks transporting the clothes from the factory etc. Unless you wife grows the cotton herself (or raises sheep) and then makes the fabric herself and then makes the clothes with non-metallic instruments she is hurting the environment! ;)

Washing clothes has to be the BIGGEST waste of time...

But then, I have to go chase 'em out of their little hampers, and load 'em up in the truck and get a coupla rolls of quarters, oh, shit, out of soap! gotta go to the store first, ah, here we are, man that spray in the "tanning" booths sure stinks, speaking of which I see all the cars are chicky-poos getting leatherized, not doing laundry, good, I got plenty of machines, this shouldn't take but 2-2 1/2 hours... shit, screaming kids again..."Tiffany! Beating clothes on rocks can damage the sometimes delicate fabric by distorting the warp and weave of the individual threads. For the fashion conscious, this can spell disaster. We do not engage in this ill-advised treatment of our clothing--- we just wear them until they rot off, instead. :P
