yikes..German Schlager on the radio!
I had left the radio on this low power public station (was listening to a celtic/british folk music show), and turned the radio on just now...amazing..they are playing German schlager! In Dayton Ohio!

I know there is a German show on in Cincy, but didnt know about this one.

Shlager, translated as "hits", are the indiginous "pop" music of Germany, a postwar pop culture phenomenon that had its heyday in the 1950s & 60s. Musically, I can say they are not rock, but maybe more coming from European "tin pan ally" and "folk" traditions (polkas, brass band music, etc), but modernized.

2. not really my cup of tea, but its a change of pace.
If I had a choic of listening to rap or heavy metal and schlager Id choose schlager....while provincial (they are all sung in German), the production values are pretty good and the tunes arent bad.
