Shrek 2...GO SEE IT...
One of few sequels as good as the first. So funny, has suspense, will make you cry, and has several villains that you will want to kick in the nuts/head. It's so good. And there's even a couple of twists. And I know how picky you people are when it comes to movies. Please don't lose your minds like usual. It's just an animated feature.

1. The hubby and I are taking the kids to it tomorrow. It has gotten great
reviews, even people saying it is better than the first (which was great).

I heard the cat is great and steals all the scenes he is in.

2. Oh, he and Donkey steal the movie...
Bantering. So cute. The kids and you adults will love it alike.

4. What she said. I meant to post this Wednesday night
Actually it's better than the original, at least the animation is. More naturalistic than the first one; the people look more like people.
It's also funnier, just 'cause they don't have to spend half the movie introducing the characters.

6. ok for kids 7 and 5 years old?
I had heard this one had more adult humor etc. my kids loved the first one, and are begging to go see this one - any opinions? keep in mind I am a somewhat protective mom in terms of what I let them watch - they tend to get nightmares from "scary" scenes in movies.

7. The stuff that's a little more adult, they shouldn't get...
There were a lot of kids in theatre. And they were laughing and loved the animals and music, etc. It's not really scary. There's a big giant gingerbread man, about the scale of the stay puff marshmallow man on Ghostbusters. But he's not evil. And I can't think of anything else that could be construed as scary. It should be fun for everyone, including your kids. Pixar and Dreamworks are really good at making the adult humor not understood by kids.

14. Always remember to stay until after the credits are done
In fact, they have many.

Thanks to Pixar, nobody can leave a big budget CGI/animated movie until the lights come up. There's always some silly shit after the credits are done. On the other hand, this gives you a good excuse to go see it again!:)

16. I agree. Go see it.
It's about as good as the first. It avoids the trap of becomming a spoof of itself, which is one thing I can't stand about comedy sequels. You could easily watch Shrek, and Shrek II after an intermission, and it would look like a two-part story. Most of the main characters are back, along with some of the better minor characters (I don't think I'm spoiling anything when I mention the Gingerbread Man, the Three Blind Mice, and Pinocchio, among others, return). Some of the plot devices and development are very similar, but I think most people who liked Shrek would expect and look forward to that. Several new characters come into the movie, Puss-in-Boots is fantastic. Like Shrek I, the scenes are attractive, ironic, and produce their own comedy.

If you didn't like Shrek I, skip this movie. Otherwise, go directly to the theatre.
